Ruger Charger? What did I win?

I just got a text from a buddy saying I won one of the lower prizes on their big Fire Department raffle – a Ruger Charger .22

I did not know what they were until doing a quick search. Honest question…what do people use them for? They seem like they’d be awkward…but I’m soul searching for a reason to take it versus the gift card for it’s value at cost to the supplier.

Doesn’t even look fun, I’d take gift card and buy something you’d use

    That’s a gun I wouldn’t buy but I’d have fun if I won it

Had to look it up. That is a odd one. Not sure of anything I could think of to use it for

It’s a plinking gun. Exactly what ruger lists it as

That model has been out for a long time. Would be a fun plinking gun with a decent scope and bipod

At 50 OZ I’m not sure how accurate you could be. Instead of a two handed pistol, I’d rather spend less and have a Glock 44 with an extended mag.

After looking more, it appears most people just target shoot with them. If it’s out of the box accurate enough to pick off chipmunks, squirrels, crows, woodchucks, etc. with a relatively cheap scope… I might just keep it and put it on a shelf in the garage for easy access.

I’ve had one for years. Put a scope on it. It’s red squirrel death.

Considering it’s a plinking gun just built for that, I imagine it’ll be perfect for exactly what you listed. Again it looks like a fun gun, I’d be happy to win one but wouldn’t buy one.

Picture in your mind adding a small folding ‘stock’ and a suppressor and voila, a 10” barrel rifle without the papers

you would have to call it a “brace” or it would be illegal jester

A bipod (included) and a holographic or red dot sight are pretty common on the charger. Set it up on a table, and have a buddy whack a few golf balls and try to hit ’em in the air. Its for fun, not protection or hunting. Uses Ruger 10/22 BX mags so if you have one of those that’s an extra 15 round magazine.

I put a red dot on mine and love to head out for squirrels! Great little gun and fun to shoot.
