BW you don’t think those transfer are getting paid? I’m guessing the perks and $$$$ are better at Indiana than JM or any D2/3 school.
    JMO

Maybe some of them are, but I’d bet the highest paid Indiana player isn’t in the top 50 highest paid Buckeyes. It’s more a case of the haves vs have nots than ever, and no way did Indiana come across the money to become one of the Haves suddenly to buy a football team. Cignetti was/is selling a higher level of competition and exposure.

This is a case of good coaching and bringing in his players.

I wouldn’t necessarily go that far.

I’ve already stated how loose the transfer portal is and that its like free agency for college sports. The empahsis on recruiting players has become secondary in many cases to recruiting transfers. Players can leave for nearly any reason. They may not like the color of the paint on the wall in the locker room. Boom, I’m outta here. I like red better than black.

Indiana would be the same failure of a program they’ve been for many years without the transfer portal.

Its perfectly legal and abides by the rules, so nothing can be done about it. They need to make players sit out a full season if they want to transfer again. And limit it to one transfer. Players can currently transfer twice if they want to during eligibility.

It’s tough to speak in absolutes about Indiana football in any way. Let’s see how they fare after this weekend. They have literally not played ANY of the top 9 teams in the Big 10 standings. They’ve statistically played the weakest conference schedule of any team in the league.

They don’t need to win, but they can’t get their doors blown off. If it ends up being a 42-14 type game or worse, they become nothing but an average team whose schedule aligned perfectly. If they keep it close or even win, they are probably a fringe playoff team. For the record, I hope they win or keep it close.

Well they just found 45 million for the coach so where did that come from?

Yeah the transfer portal was a large influence in their breakout season, but I think the coach is making a huge difference. Regardless of how many players who are new to the program, those kids were all from lower level teams so he is getting more out of less IMO. Good for them, something to be excited about for a change I would like to see them win.
Gophers have #4 PSU. Should be a tough game but I wouldnt be shocked if the Gophers won. Their offense is actually pretty dynamic. Have one of the most accurate passers in college football and a great running back who can catch the ball in space too with a couple pretty good receivers. Defense will be key here, but they have been opportunistic most of the season.

They gave a stat on Penn State yesterday when I was listening to KFAN.

The Nittany Lions are a whopping 66-3 since 2016 against teams other than Ohio State and Michigan.

In other words, the only teams they lose to with any consistency are the Buckeyes and Wolverines.

Yep, they have one of the most consistent programs out there and one of the best coaches in the league too. Should be fun game.

That’s not correct, they lost 4 games in 2018, 5 games in 2020, and 6 in 2021. So even if all the other seasons of 3 losses or less were 2 losses to Mich&OSU regular season and a Big10 Championship loss to them (Doubtful), it doesn’t math.

The gophers. SOmeone derailed this thread with Indiana talk, but the Gophers/PSU game lists only streaming options that I can tell.

Clearly either I heard it wrong or KFAN stated it inaccurately. doah

Gim it was something like that was their record against unranked opponents as well. The point of the stat was that statistically it would be very unlikely to drop a game to the unranked gophers on Saturday.

Low and behold, Indiana 15, Ohio State 38.

I think we found our answer and it’s a pretender, not a contender.

Guess that explains why all those players were at JM, and D2/3. whistling

Even I thought there was a better chance of the rodents beating Penn State than Indiana beating Ohio State at Ohio State.

Gophers hung in there. I thought it was a good game. Penn State with a fake punt and two 4th down conversions on the last drive was impressive to earn the win.

Gophers got screwed on the pass interference penalty. The ball was WAY out of bounds and the players has stopped hand fighting long before the ball got there. That allowed PSU to score.

I didn’t bet any way on the Gophers game. Penn State has looked very mediocre for stretch of the season, and the Gophers were at home.

Nebraska Cover + Kansas Moneyline just bought me some “free” Packers vs. Vikings tickets toast
