PFF has the gophs Perich as the highest rated true freshman in the country. He is off to a great start and the future is bright for that kid.

Perich is an absolute stud. I have been saying it since the day he signed he was going to be a star and I have been very impressed. The only true freshman besides Winfield to have 2 picks for the gophers. He has a lot of season left.

Indiana is a problem, man they are tough all over. I was expecting Nebraska to put them in their place today and it is quite the opposite. I better check in on Mr Moen… waytogo

Kinda surprised no one posted about this. The boat rowers took it to Maryland pretty hard on Saturday. Their largest margin of victory in years, in fact.

Sitting at 5-3, this team is now only 1 win away from bowl eligibility with 4 games remaining.

Next up is #20 ranked Illinois in Champaign, IL. Illinois is 6-2, with their only losses to highly ranked Oregon and Penn State. They are coached by Bret Beliema, whom PJ Fleck has never won against (regardless of whether he was coaching Wisconsin or Illinois).

The way they are playing now sure makes that loss to N Carolina sting a bit more. And if the refs would have given them their fair chance on the onside kick against Michigan things could look alt different.

Illinois, Rutgers, Penn State and Wisconsin down the stretch. This weekend is a big one! If they can pull off the upset, they should handle Rutgers and probably Wisconsin (who is on QB3 I believe). 8-4 is a pretty solid season in Dinkytown.

I agree. Their over/under win total was 5.5 before the season so one more would get them there.

Its pretty sad because they could EASILY be a 1 loss team right now. Kicker failed them in the one game and got jobbed by the officials in the other loss.

We got preposterous statement nominee! rotflol

I’d maybe give you the kicker/UNC game, although people always forget the butterfly effect if the thing had gone differently (kicks made, result in a different rest of the game). But the Michigan one was not jobbed by the officials, it was a close call, that was probably incorrect, but they still had a lot of work left to do to steal that one.

The gophers Have been more competitive then I thought they would be. Koi has been fun to watch. I wonder over the next few years if they will incorporate him on offense.

He played on one offensive play against Maryland. He was in the backfield.

Wisconsin (who is on QB3 I believe)

They are still on QB 2 with Braedyn Locke who honestly has been decent besides a bad pick this past Saturday night.

A “lot of work” IDK about that. Lost by 3 pts. I like their chances to tie of nothing less. Sure, they may not have scored, but they just as easily could have. We wont know because they didnt get a chance and they should have. Our kicker has a bomb of a leg and he got his misses out earlier in the year they were already probably in FG range.

With the momentum they had going I think they would have won. But OT for sure.

Not sure how there could be a butterfly effect when they lost by 2 points and missed the kick as time expired.

Move into FG range, have your kicker who is 9/15 on the year make a FG to tie it, and then win in OT is a lot of work to do.

Jeremy you are correct, I was referring to the kick missed earlier in the game.

They were pretty much already in FG Range for him if that penalty wasnt called. Yeah, he could have missed it so be it, but I like his chances because the ball would have been setup in the middle of the field since it was a change of possession. The kicks he missed from memory were all right hash. Could be wrong on that. They had momentum and win the coin toss and go in and score and then hope the defense holds. To say any of that is preposterous is beyond ridiculous they were never even given a chance. I never once they they WOULD have won, I said they could have been a 1 loss team big difference. It came out that it was absolutely not a penalty he was not offsides and should not have been called. Now go back to trolling Packer fans.

Are the Gophers favored against #24 ranked Illinois on the road? We are favored by 3 and it opened as 1.5 favorites. This does not make any sense as PJ can not beat Bielema.

Yes, the Gophers are still the favorites by 1.5 points as of today.

I think they would have won. They had everything going their way and over a minute and a half on the clock. But ive been alive long enough to know what the Gophers could do and what they usually end up doing dont usually align.

Brosmer is showing how pathetic the Gophers have been at QB. IMO this team’s future rests on whether Fleck can get a QB in the system for more than a year.

I meant to say I never said they would have won. I certainly think they could have only a fool would say otherwise after watching how they were dominating to that point.

They have a bright freshman who looks to be the part so hopefully he sticks around.

Yeah taller kid too from what i remember hearing. They’re throwing more this year and from what I’ve heard the freshman is suited for this type of offense.

Groundhogs day with this talk (or should I say gopher day). Coulda, woulda, shoulda, blah, blah, blah. We’re heading for another thrilling Mieneke Muffler Bowl and you all know it.

As a life long Gopher fan, I’ll HAPPILY take the criticism if I end up being wrong and they spontaneously decide to play consistently good football and end up with a lower national ranking a half-way decent bowl. But I don’t think I’m going to be wrong.

Perich is unreal and Brosmer does seem to be settling-in compared to the start of his season. PJ’s doing a lot with what he has, but I don’t foresee any vastly different outcomes than years’ past.

Haha. Can’t deny it. If there’s a bowl in the future, its gonna be one of those no name ones that very few people care about. Meineke, Pinstripe, Music City, Chick Filet, etc.

And they’ll probably win it, and Fleck will use it as ammo to secure another massive contract extension.

Fourth win in a row, come from behind win against a ranked opponent on the road. These guys aren’t going to win the national championship but they aren’t the 5th inning Yankees either. Today was fun.
