Ugly loss at home vs BG. Godly was a 31 point favorite too. Yikes

Ended the longest non conference winning streak in the country at 21 games.
Fleck deserved it, didn’t have the guys ready and had a arrogant offensive game plan.

Time to stop rowing and start bailing the boat. That was an embarrassment.

I was at the game, first one in a while, needless to say i won’t be waisting my time at another for while on a nice saturday. 31 point favorites, historic loss as far as spred goes. You could tell by the way it was going five minutes into game it wasnt going well, no energy at all.

The last non-conference loss was against nationally ranked TCU in 2015. Since then, they have not played a single nationally ranked non-conference opponent, other than in a bowl game (which they have no control over scheduling). Maybe it’s time to start scheduling some better non-conference teams?

They need easier cupcakes. Maybe Hamline?

How many times were we nationally ranked the last six years? Not being a smart a$$! Just curious.
They need a few of those easy ones to make them Bowl eligible which means money for the program.

This was an absolute clunker. Shouldn’t have been close and perhaps got too amped after a dominating performance on the road last week but this is unacceptable. Everyone is responsible for this. Morgan was terrible.

They were ranked probably most of the season they went 11-2 a couple years ago. Other than that I can’t recall them being nationally ranked on a consistent basis in recent years.

I think you’re absolutely right on scheduling cupcakes every year in non-conference games. They do it to pad their overall record because the ultimate goal is to qualify for a bowl game, regardless of which one it is. It means a lot for these lesser known schools too when they get a crack a power 5 conference team, especially when they beat one (like yesterday).

The non-conference schedules are made years in advance but I just think if they tried to play better teams it would also make them better too. Maybe not. Could make them worse too lol

I think in the Gophers case it’d be good to have one moderate Power 5 team a year among their 3-4 non-conference games a year. They went through a phase where they played USC and TCU a few times and at this point in the program that’s not doing them any good. They had North Carolina on the schedule a few years, I’m thinking more in that range. The Gophers at best are typically a middle-tire Big Ten team and they need to play equivalents in other conferences in my opinion. Start beating good head-to-head non-conference opponents and then work your way up, if you can.

Yesterday was miserable. They had very little to win (that’s an opponent you should just beat handily and move on) but everything to lose. I love college football and the rankings make every Saturday so important, but it also means the Gophers are pretty much done. Sure, they could surprise everyone in conference play. But 3-1 with a decent road win at favored Colorado would’ve probably had them close to top-25, especially as a few always drop out. After this loss it’ll be awful tough to crack the rankings unless they beat some ranked Big Ten Schools.

17-13 goldy after 3 quarters in west lafayette. Been raining most of the game and I think some guys need longer spikes on their cleats.

20-13 game. Morgan looked a lot better today. He really does throw a pretty good deep ball, especially when it’s set up for play-action. Seemed like it rained like crazy and both teams did a pretty good job of not getting sloppy.

Purdue won’t be going to the Rose Bowl but a win on the road against a Big 10 team is a good win.

Wisconsin beat up on Iowa pretty good today. The gophers will be alone in first place if they can beat Northwestern.

The games remaining against their two biggest rivals, the Hawkeyes and Badgers, will likely determine who will represent the big 10 west.

For sure I believe the West will be between the 3.

Morgan does not look good. But WAY too many drops by the WRs. Looks like we need to recruit some kids who can catch the ball.

The Gophers likely had to beat Iowa AND Wisconsin to win the big ten west. Something they haven’t done in over 30 years. The Badgers have been steam rolling opponents lately too. They should beat Indiana next week but I don’t see any more wins after that.

PJ got what he wanted though, a big contract extension.

How do you lose when you have 40 minutes of time possession?

You kick field goals when inside the 10 yard line…3 times! Not impressed with coaches or the offense, have to give the defense credit. They kept the Gophers in the game.
