The Gophers are going to need a 500 HP Verado if they plan on winning tonight.

Ha, just posted in the CFB thread. I’m thinking more like a big old diesel engine like the Deadliest Catch boats run, like their big and old OL and stud RB gets chugging and they have a punchers chance.

I think they keep it close in the first half and then OSU’s depth is the difference in the second half and they pull away.

We will see. Ohio has a true freshman at qb. That’ll be the gophers chance of success. Keep pressure on the qb. Ill for some reason take the underdog on this one. Crazy and stupid I kknow. But I’m a dreamer

Ohio state has lost some big games early in the year in the past.

I think the gophs have a chance but it’ll take perfect execution and probably a few breaks….turnovers, big special teams play, etc.

This is why CFB is the best!

    I’ll take your action BC.

Ohio State vs. Minnesota spread: Buckeyes -13.5
Ohio State vs. Minnesota over-under: 62 points
Ohio State vs. Minnesota money line: Buckeyes -600, Golden Gophers +425

If it rains the Gophers have a better chance. The rain may mitigate an OSU passing game to an extent.

I’m sorry but the gophers has 0 yes I said it 0 chance of winning! And scoring the first touchdown does not count as winning.

Knowing I won’t win this, I will still put a beer and shot of choice on the line when ever we run in to each other

The OSU kid looks shaky and gave us a gift and gophs took advantage.

It looks like Ibrahim is done for the year and then so are the Gophers. No depth at running back. Mediocre quaterback at best. Does he ever have a second receiver in mind? Linebackers still suck. #55 is usually near the runner/receiver but trailing them, just like last year. How many “big” plays did OSU get, 5? Fleck said his goal was to make the OSU coaches coach. Well he did and got his ass handed to him.

P.S. The worst reffing in the secondary I have ever seen. The non-calls were going both ways too.

I knew it was going to be that way, but I always have faith.
The gophers didn’t look bad last night but loosing our running back is bad bad bad

I basically said the same thing in the College Football thread, but I’ll be really surprised if Abrahim’s injury isn’t season-ending. Hoping for the best. Watching that calf muscle recoil in slow motion almost made me throw-up.

Trey Potts is a solid running back, and they have some 4 star recruits on the depth chart as well. Sucks Ibrahim got injured, he’s a beast, and will be done for the year that was definitely an achilles tear. I agree with you on Tanner Morgan, Zach Annexstad should get some run too as he beat Tanner out once before getting injured. OSU’s talent level is off the charts, tough to stop big plays when the other team has the speed to run by your guys. Defense had some moments that showed improvement over last years abysmal performance, but yeah the LB’s and DB’s have a long way to go.

Not sure how you can say Fleck got his ass handed to him, when they went blow for blow with one of the top teams in the country for 4 quarters, including leading at halftime. They showed a lot of resolve answering back, but OSU’s talent was just too much down the stretch.

Agree Werm! the big plays hurt to watch and proved OU is an elite team, but the Gophs looked WAYYYY better than I expected. We looked closer to a Top Tier Big 10 Team rather than a Rutgers, Illinois or Purdue. If we can overcome the Ibrahim loss (which I think will happen) the Wisconsin, Iowa games should be fun to watch. I know it’s a defeatist Minnesotan sports mentality but just having a competitive team is a win with this squad!

I really don’t understand any Fleck hate at this point, he coached the greatest Gophers season of my almost 40 years, runs a program that has virtually 0 off field issues, gets great grades, as well as some of the best recruits the U has ever had, and looks to be building for the long haul. He deserves a ton of support imo. And I’m far from diehard Gophers fan or Fleck apologist, never even been to a Gophers game and thought he was Brewster 2.0 at first, I’m just a huge football fan that tries to look at things objectively. Except for the Vikings and Notre Dame, in which case this is the year they both win it all! whistling rotflol

How long did it take to complete that game? I watched the first few series from home, went to the gym and lifted for about 45 minutes, did some cardio for another 45 minutes, stopped for gas on the way back home, turned the game back on and I think it was only mid way through the 3rd period. Checked some emails and saw the gophers go down by 10 and then shut if off. I don’t have A.D.D. but man, when there’s so many TV timeouts and other delays, I almost forget that there’s snippets of football being broadcast every once in a while.

Agreed on Fleck. One of the best coaches we’ve had here in awhile.

The only thing we have to worry about is him leaving for a better job, which I’m thinking is probably a better than 50/50 shot of happening after this year.

I just watched his after game press conference.
He didn’t make excuses, said they had to do better, no Rah-Rah bs.

I was very impressed. I am now a fan of Coach Fleck.

He’s easy to dislike because he’s a flamboyant guy – but he gets results. Plus when you have a jaded fanbase due to decades and decades of mediocre football at best, his positivity is oil in the water. I like him a lot, not just because of the program but because he seems to care just as much about the guys off the field and for their families and their futures. He’s a great human with a unorthadox style. Unfortunately that alone is enough to get you hated by a lot of people for some reason these days.

EPG, I thought of your quote at the beginning of the halftime TV show, one of the guys mentioned the “boat” having a 350 Merc, one of the other guys had no idea what he was talking about,,,,

We do have to do something about the secondary, though. OU is ridiculously talented, but the ease in how they were able to take the top off the defense when they needed to, with a freshman quarterback paying his first game, was pretty unreal.

When they pressured him he got flustered. Too bad they couldnt get after him more to help the secondary out.
