Does anyone have any information on Round Lake, North of Tamarack, NE of McGregor, specifically on its fishability?

I have an in on some lake property there through a friend of a friend, but I am not overly familiar with the area. I fish BSL every opener for the past few years, and I really like that lake, but I don’t think Round Lake is anything like BSL. From the MN Lake Survey, it appears Round Lake is a very clear/clean lake, with visibility over 15 feet. Looks like 1-2 lb. Northern Pike are plentiful, along with Largemouth Bass and oddly Bullheads. It does list Walleye in moderate numbers, but I am going to guess with all the Pike and the clear water, they are tough to target, likely low light hours in the morning/evening, or even night fishing.

I fish for everything, but target Walleye the most, so I guess my question is more directed to the Walleye fishing, is it worthwhile or not? And if not, is it worthy of fishing for other species? Panfish?

If anyone has first hand knowledge and is willing to share, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a buddy that has a cabin up there, walleyes are plentiful in that lake if you know how to fish them. One thing I can stay is trolling low lights, that’s all the info I can say.

Have not fished it, only used the beach. It is very clear water for the area. Guessing I was in at least 10 feet and could easily see the bottom through 4 inches of ice during an early season ice survey.

On another forum I saw a walleye tip for neighboring Wawa. Go to BSL..

My father grew up in Tamarack and we fished lakes in the general area. I don’t remember fishing Round more than once or twice if that tells you anything. We always fished Minnewawa across the road. As you point out the water is very clear and it gets quite weedy.

Clear minnewawa, cloudy round is usually what we do.

I am a 25 year Eagle Point seasonal camper and have ventured on most of the area lakes at some point. Round lake, in my mind, is more of a panfish lake. Yes, there probably is some walleye lurking but if you’re going to put the time in spend it on a lake with better numbers. If you just want to escape the crowds then have at it! As said before the beach is great and during the day there are plenty of pontoons cruising.

I have cabin there Great Lake with super clear water. There’s a good island and a few good drop offs with structure to fish. Lots of bass and panfish. I’ve done a little walleye fishing but not much.
