I was up in a remote area of northern Laos the last few days for work and I got to do a little fishing while there. My Lao buddies who live there took me to a small reservoir for fishing.
We tried it for awhile but caught nothing. They were using cane poles while I had the state of the art Spinning pole with me. I continued to look for some special feature or some place that might hold fish and that is when I discovered the dam and thought I would give that a try. Dams always seem to hold something so I went to try it.
I knew there was something under that water falls.
I connected with a new lifelister: the Red Tail Sand Loach. It took me awhile to ID this fish because there are 84 different species in the Mountain Stream Loach family. He was kind of a cute and colorful little guy. I was so excited as I high-fived my Lao buddies who appeared to be as excited as me. I then caught another but we only had about a 2 hours to fish.
