are starting to show up in decent numbers! The cool thing is it’s about three weeks earlier than last year, should be the makings of an excellent spring. I’ll try to get a report up in the next few days as time permits.

i was out by the creek in anoka that runs into mississippi, you know the one that runs through all the lake to forest lake. there were no carps yet.
March 23, 2009 at 7:31 pm #761640Huh? I think you might have your creek crossed. Rice pour in off E. River Road in Fridley. Rum pour in at Anoka. Elm Creek/Mill Pond on Champlin side. Coon Creek pour in at CR Dam. Forest Lake in Forest Lake, or are you talking about Clear Lake in Forest Lake?
I can’t say for sure because I have never been, but I believe Jeremy fishes south of Forest Lake, not far from a place where bobber meets power line.
March 23, 2009 at 7:50 pm #761649The bobber meets powerline spot is no longer the spot it used to be. New construction= very little current and shallow water.
March 23, 2009 at 8:03 pm #761660Bummer, Bobby grew up down there and knows a couple of “on’s” back in the neighborhoods. This time of year Coon Creek confluence should be giving up 1-2 pound carp non-stop with a few fiddler cats, and some sheephead.
One river system I have always wanted to try fish for carp is the Sunrise. There are a couple of pools east of Harris that have some real brutes. Big enough to make it worth almost tipping the canoe with a bow shot.
Finally last but not least, and I say this because the Linders just had it on a couple weeks ago, the back bay in Vineland after the ice comes off. You see them from time to time in the reeds in St. Alban’s while out musky fishing, the question becomes how big a carp can Mille Lacs grow??
March 23, 2009 at 8:31 pm #761672All I know is now that I have a bow I’m going to try for some carp with it.

Unless you want a ticket, you’d better wait till May 1st!
March 24, 2009 at 12:40 pm #761896Thanks Ralph. Yeah I knew that. I got invited to go out with one of the guys in the archery club up here this year when the season opens. He’s got a pretty nice flat bottom boat with a deck on it for bow fishing. Should be fun to try my luck. I shot league all winter and tonight is the last of it. It should be interesting to see if I can hit something moving that small. I know I would have never hit that gold fish you did.

Dude, I am a horrible shot. I miss way too often.

This is why we now use a boat
