I got an invitation from a Lao friend to come to his farm. He knew of my interest in fishing and he allowed me access to his private pond. I needed some bait so we began looking for worms with no luck but we were able to get some freshwater shrimp. I cast some shrimp out on a bare hook and just let it sit on the bottom. It wasn’t long before my line started taking off. I set the hook and reeled in a very nice Walking Catfish. It looked and fought like a Channel Cat as I was bringing it in. I then hooked into another new lifelister for me; the Nile Tilapia. The Tilapia is an introduced species here from Africa and has been here long enough to be known as a regular catch. I ended the day with 2 new Lifelisters.

Nile Tilapia eat shrimp too.
