I have never done well on carp on the St Croix I will pic one up here or there but this fall I have managed to find them in deeper backwater areas and had some fun with carp ranging from 4-8 pounds. I even caught one with a lamprey attached to it that let go and swam away before I landed the carp….but I still would have returned it also. They have been aggressive after crawlers on the bottom running and jumping after they are hooked. I have gotten soaked by them landing them with no net from shore!
