My dedicated carping experience is limited, so I hope I can get a few questions answered here.
I’d like to get out this weekend in hopes of catching some decent sized carp. I’ve always just used “walleye” gear, but I’d like to try something different. Let me know your thoughts.
The rod I’m thinking of using is an 8′ glass rod with good backbone but a really soft tip. It’s got a 6500C3 on it spooled with 15lb mono.
Do you think this would work? Would 15lb mono be too heavy and noticed by the fish? My thought was that I could lob a bait a lot farther with this set up, and the soft rod tip + mono would help eliminate hooks tearing out.
