Yes, the Carp are in the Channel below the Fountain Lake Dam in Albert Lea.

    for more photo’s, see link:
    Congestion in the Channel

They (City & People in Albert Lea) would be glad to have to take as many as you want. Take them ALL, whether for food or fertilizer.

Check with DNR for any/all legal means of taking them.

Thanks to Dan Borland for posting these on FB.

Do you know if a bow with a string attached is allowed within city limits?

Carp for cold water are good eating, either fresh or smoked. Small ones are best, big uns not sa good.
Looks like easey to get some too.

Apparently there are gold fish too.

When I grew up there in the late 60’s & 70’s, there were thousands of them. The water would look ORANGE from all the Orange CARP.
Last few years I hardly see any Orange Carp when I’m down there.

Someone must have stopped stocking their summer koi there when they cleaned their pond.

I called and was told that it is illegal to discharge a bow within city limits. Then I double checked the city ordinances myself. Unfortuantely, they do not have any reference to bow fishing or shooting an bow with a sting attached to the arrow. At least the city of Rochester has made that determination and allows bowfishing in certain areas. Oh well, would have liked to put a small dent in the carp population over there.

    Fishing problems reported

Albert Lea police received multiple calls of people spearing or fishing with bows and arrows near the Fountain Lake dam on Sunday morning. No one was cited.
