Thought I had a trophy walleye on, Trolling shads in 16 fow, and this thing attacks my lure. I told my 8 year old that if he nets it successfully, i’d give him a couple bucks. Then this ugly thing shows up, lol. Still was fun.

I am sure we all have had that feeling at the end of our rod a time or two.

Disappointing but still a fun fight

I don’t know how you can be disappointed catching a large fish.

I hope to land one accidentally over 20# some day.

While looking for pictures of sheephead, I ran across this.

Those teeth are right behind the gills which explains why I deep hook so many.

    Congrats on the big Sheepie!

Nice sheepie! They are fun to catch once they get past the itty-bitty stage.

Otherwise known as the whirley bird stage as they tend to not fight, just come in spinning like a whirley bird.

Once past whirley bird some go to trash can lid stage. Nothing like seeing a huge trash can lid sheepie surface about 75′ behind the boat and play dead. Thoughts go from “wow that is huge” to “dang I have to crank that thing in now” in a hurry.

Used to get a fair number of big sheeps pitching night crawlers to the very deep tips of wing dams this time of year. The deeper tips where the most productive. 20′ or deeper.
