First eye of 2013 for me, and the sunset that came just before her. Not a bad way to kick off the year!

Thought you might like that BK. Heres one that’s truly dear to your heart, I’m sure. A fish that really is under utilized.

    Pretty mainstream in my book!

A few years ago I caught a Logperch through the ice! That was cool.

I do like the pic though. I hope to add some pics this weekend.

I remember unhooking one for my nephew last year. Slimier than an eelpout. Seems like mostly get caught in the spring for some reason? Or am I off?

Also, that sucker bled like crazy too for just being hooked in the lip. I suspect maybe because they might absorb some oxygen through their skin?

I always remember catch’n them while bobber fishing for saugers through the ice on the St. Croix

If your minnow wasn’t at least a beer can off the bottom

You can be rest asured that they’d be all over your bait like flies on Sheit

Pretty much set the calender by them moving up to the P4 dam area Nov 1. I believe the mate in the fall…not that I’ve watched.

In the link above the DNR is asking for photographed and documented before release.

“Therefore, any specimens caught in the state should be photographed before release and reported to the Department of Natural Resources to gain better knowledge of mudpuppy distribution and abundance in Minnesota. Reports may be sent to Krista Larson or call the report line at 651-259-5076.”

Brian, I just read they mate in fall, but don’t lay the eggs until spring. Scientists believe the females do this so they have something to complain about all winter to their mates.

Ok, I made up the second part. Ya got me.

I love the sign, but I’ve been wondering how the carp plays into the whole safety theme

The carp finally are making their run on the tributaries to the Minnesota. I stopped by my favorite spot with hopes there would be some bullheads for my bait tank, but I wound up with about 10 carp instead. Only 2 bullheads for bait so far, but I think the water needs to warm a bit for them to really get going.
