This squirrel was at our feeders the other day. He’s missing fur on the upper half of his body. Has anyone seen this before? Mange, maybe?

Probably mange or a fungal infection, quite common.

That one is not to bad. I had one that looked like it was from the walking dead. Scrawny , patches of hair gone, one eyeball bulging out and with a goofy looking grin on it. Ran a long the fence next to me and stoped and stared at me. Scared the jubzeebers out of me. By the time I corralled the dogs before they saw it just wandered off.

That one looks like it’s just losing its winter coat.

None of our other resident squirrels look like that. Wouldn’t they all look similar if that was the case?

The picture is missing crosshairs. lol

That guy is shedding out the winter fluff. Mange usually takes the hair off right down to the skin.

One of these days, I’ll get around to making a squirrel feeder with a target as the backdrop. )

Nothing gets the pooches more excited that saying “SQUIRREL!!!”
The youngest almost caught one yesterday.
