About 20 years ago I saw an about a 30ft cruiser get beached on Kinnikinick island like that. Was about 30ft from water. Heard the captain was wasted and the passenger got busted up pretty good. Happened in the middle of the night.
Wow! That is not a docking issue but alcohol or just being plain stupid issue. Glad they are relatively OK.
I swear you come across the best, most picture- worthy things in life B-man!
Jesus! Was it foggy? Some lucky guys there!
No, human error. Not sure if it was alcohol related or not (but I’m guessing so, or he was on autopilot and wasn’t paying attention)
We went to a little bar for lunch today and talked with the bartender chick a little about it.
The guy was a local and has had his boat through the entry a thousand times. He called the bartender at 10:30pm and ordered food, shortly after they hit the break wall on plane. Another boat called 911, picked them up and brought them to a waiting ambulance.
Here’s picture of the other side that my buddy took.
Looks like he never lost any poles.
Glad he didn’t lose his net.
Wonder if the radar was still spinning when he landed?
I could tell you a similar story from exact same port you would not believe. All I have to say is I saw smaller boat completely clear that jump I mean break wall.
I kid you not. All survived after I towed them in.

Wow I bet that was quite a thing to see. What’s the story there? Drunk? Fog? Not paying attention?
In my case drunk and dark saw the whole thing unfold from hearing them get to close to launching straight over it. Thought I would be pulling dead bodies out of water…hit it so fast and straight on they launch over break wall and landed in other side.

I’ve heard stories of boats hitting break walls, but never seen it in person before lol
Says a lot for that hull. I would have expected a boat that size to just cave in on impact. She took it like a champ. Likely to do more damage trying to get it off the wall.
Add a secondary bilge pump and keep fishing.

Have another drink and keep on fishing.
It does kind of amaze me with todays electronics that this would happen without some kind of liquor weather or motor failure happening.

There was a pontoon that went over a barricaded buoy line on Lake Zumbro last year and drove over the dam. Almost unbelievable if I did not see it but sometimes the booze hit harder than Ray Rice in an elevator I guess?
Yeah but a pontoon isn’t equipped with multiple GPS graphs like salmon boat is. Guy with a rig and gear like that isn’t fishing or driving blind GPS wise. I have hung out in Kewaunee plenty in my years and can tell you there are some characters that have slips there. Although his boat says Sturgeon Bay.

Have you been on Lake Zumbro before? Doubt it. If you have, it would take an absolute Buffoon like no other to push a pontoon over a staked off REZ dam unless there was a mechanical failure and there is usually a plan B for those.

For real. I woulda thought that hull would be torn to pieces but then again not sure how fast they were going nor wave height
