I’ll throw my 2 cents worth in. Camped at Arden Island and didn’t have to go too far for fish. I fished one shoreline spot occasionally and humps most of the time, 20 feet or so. There were still some mayflies hatching, but not real thick clouds of them. Pretty good wind Tuesday, 11 walleyes, all on chartreuse spinner and half crawler 2-hook rig. Wednesday light wind, bright sun. Nothing in the morning, evening 3 walleyes on a floater rig and leech. Thursday light wind, sunny. Floater rig & leech got 4 walleyes and 3 small bass. Friday light wind and sunny, clouded up some in the afternoon. Got 12 walleyes, 6 small bass, and a 24″ pike. Most were caught on crawlers.

We are back into the 90’s for air temps again. I got a call from a buddy who wants to come hunt Big Pike tomorrow. No clue where to even begin. Pretty sure i’ll end up trolling the reefs if I can’t locate them elsewhere.

Yeah, surface temp was mid-70’s all week so the Pike will be deep. How deep is the question. I’d start at 25 and go down from there. Good luck.

Common sense says weedy bays. But mid summer. Most of my big pike came trolling steep dropping banks. 20 to 30 feet of water. Seem to catch lots of fish in the 20 something inch range in the weeds. Early late or cloudy seems to help. Even early June. The water seemed unusually warm this year..

We can’t see the sun today because of the fires in Canada. So it’s overcast I guess. We will get after the reefs & humps tomorrow and see what happens. He sent me a picture of what looks like a 40″+ he got on Kab. today. I’m sure i’ll get the whole story in the morning.

We will be trolling Super Shads and a couple other lures that worked last year, we will see.

Super Shads work for us on Rainy for both walleyes and pike. Some of the pike we get are either side of 40″. Usually troll near structure but sometime basin troll.
