Rod wanted

I’m looking for a 2017 St.Croix Legend Tournament Walleye spinning rod. I’m looking for a 6’3″ MLXF. I don’t like the 2018 because of the one piece cork handle. I like the feel of the split cork handle on the older model. I only use this rod for jigging, so I want it to be as light as possible. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone. Kev

.3 oz difference. Maybe have a custom built. Wouldn’t want to hurt your wrist lol

I also was looking for a leg tourney recently. Was going to put a different handle on it, but after factoring in the costs of that with the rod itself it is a good option for a custom build.

Maybe something to look into if you can’t find one.

Joe’s had both styles, but not the old in your length. Lots of phone calls around very well may find you one somewhere.

    PmB,

Thanks for your input. It’s not just about the .3 oz, but more so how it feels. When the bite get tough, every ounce matters, and it has to feel right in my hand. My wrists are just fine. Please let me know if you know where I can find one. thanks very much.

    nhamm,

Good idea. I live about 45 min from Thorn Brothers in Blaine MN. Maybe I should give them a call. They specialize in customs. I do have a budget though. Thanks

They are the ones I spoke to about it. Probably just be a wash they said so why not custom. Called them looking for the rod and it came up, otherwise I’d for sure shop TUCR as well if custom.

I’m all feel guy as well, legend ended up being too tip heavy for me and too stiff for a ml imo. Went with something else for my lighter jiggyness.

I can buy that blank and put any handle and guides you want on it. Recoils will lighten that rod up even more.

Our Tuned Up Custom Rods Apex Pro blank is similar in attributes to the Legend series rods from St. Croix. We have many handle and guide options as well. Let me know if you have any other questions, or feel free to stop by the shop. We’re in Coon Rapids.

Long day…just catching up now. So what rod did you choose for your jiggyness? Very curious. I think Thorn Bros would be a great option. I called them today. But will check out TUCR before I commit. I like the guides on the Croix, but building custom you get whatever you want. I’ve had a couple years on Lac Seul, when the walleyes would just mouth the jig and sit still. So basically, you’re just checking to see if they’re on. The rod has to detect that, or they’ll spit and go.
