Looking for a well designed and inexpensive rod rack. Thought about making one, had a good laugh and decided to buy one. Does not have to be pretty. Anyone know a brand or store?
    Thanks

I have seen these and they seemed to work well. I’d use the plastic lattice and make it as tall and long as you like.

    Munchy,

    We need to talk..
That second picture is my garage.

Works great, stores rods above the boat, can grab what I need before pulling boat out, the rods are safe and out of the way.

This rack I made fits 32 rods give or take. The same design could be slightly altered to be mounted on the ceiling.

Looks great Jake, make one for me! Hard to believe but my ceiling is too high to use as storage, even when I stand in my boat.

Where are you located? I could whip one up for you in about 30 min and for about $10

I simply drove screws into the studs for simple rod hanging.

That kind of looks like a nightmare if you wanted to get one of the upper rods out ?

Not really as hard as it looks.
There are a lot of options for rod racks. Some like to cover their wall with them, vertical or horizontal, some like to lean them in the corner, some leave them in the boat all season. I decided to keep mine up, safe and out of the way and if I need to move a couple of them to get to my lesser used rods so be it.

Can’t say either way if it is or isn’t. I was just giving a recommendation for someone who wanted cheap. And the great thing about the lattice idea is it is 100% customizable. Cut it with as many holes as you like. If I were to do it I’d probably only cut it one or two holes high and make it at least 8 feet long. Sliderfishn cut his taller and narrower, if it suits his needs and space constraints great!

I originally wanted to do the long and narrow route like Munchy describes.
We had just moved into a new house and had plenty of things to do but we went fishing instead to remove some stress from 2 closings and the move. House work would have to wait for me and my wife.
What changed my mind was after driving home from Mille Lacs through a pouring rain, the carpet in my boat was soaked and wanted to dry it and all my compartments out. Pulled out every fan I had and set them in my boat for circulation, decided then and there I was installing a ceiling fan in the garage above the boat so I had to rethink my design so I went with the 4 foot width instead.

man I hear ya. And I thought I had too many summer rods with 3 each for me and the wife. With about 4-5 spares.

I simply have 2 sets of the cheap rod holders you can mount in a boat screwed into my garage wall.

1.5” PVC J-hooks screwed to the trusses back to back. Stores a ton of rods for not much more than $25. If you have a finished ceiling, make a rectangular bracket out of 2×3’s, attach the J hooks and fasten it to the studs.
