What are you using for spinning rod holders?

Folbe Jr sidemounts bolted to Alumatrac brackets. I’m just using the stock plastic ones and they are solid. I’ve never trolled musky gear but I’ve snagged the bottom with walleye gear and they don’t budge.

I like how secure the Folbe’s are for trolling but think they are kind of annoying when you just want to set your rod somewhere bobber fishing or something simple. I think I’m going to get two regular tube style ones this year so I can put whichever is more appropriate on the rail.

Why the Folbe over something like the Cabela’s 360? I’m looking for one or two more this year but would like to know what you get for the extra money.

If you want to secure the rod you’d rotate the ring on the end of the Cabelas ones. To get the rod out you have to rotate that ring open and then pull the rod forward until the end is out. With Folbe it’s locked in there and you just grab the rod and pick it up.

One of the biggest reasons I use driftmaster is to get the rod butt out of the boat.

The folbe and Cabela’s plastic ones you’ve got the reel to the butt in the boat. Taking up space and reducing the length of your rod.

    There driftmasters are super strong.
Can rotate in any direction. If you mount to a 1″ pipe then you can also adjust your Angle giving you literally unlimited rod positioning.

Many mounting options. Including RH & LH threads for port & starboard applications.

    Hold rods secure!

You can trust your $500 combos in any fishing situation.

Can’t find a faster rod holders to remove your rod simultaneously setting the hook it necessary.

In my eyes they have the market for all the reasons mentioned.

Only downside, they don’t creak like the plastic ones so you can have a fish bend the rod backwards and you won’t hear a peep..

You can fight seriously big fish never removing the rod from the holder.

I do love the fact that when your running those long handled trolling rods or musky rods that the handles are outside the boat and out of your way!

For bases my new to me boat came with flush mount Scotty’s on the gunnel. Looks great and stays out of the way.

However the one I was using would swivel easily when I grabbed the rod holder by hand.

For just getting a rod out of the way while I futz with something it works. I’m worried that anything that will put decent torque will spin it. Will be looking at using the alumatrac brackets going forward.
