I bought a couple 2b cases and they are nice but 4 reels are hard to cram into the allowed space. Doable but not the best. If u collapse the reel handles it wouldn’t be an issue but I have no interest in that. Good case overall. Not perfect

Not perfect, but I’m a big fan of the 2B bags. Have one XL and one regular. SOn and I carried them sling style last week and they were very light.

TLazer, I ordered 3 of those collapsible reel handles, hoping they fit on sienna’s. That would be AWESOME!!!

I really like my Scheels 2.0 case. I have the 42″ and am getting a 36″. They are a bit bulky, but they are rock solid and with the amount of money I have in custom rods, I don’t want to risk it.

One thing to be aware of, rod tubes and rod gloves are notorious for breaking rod tips. I would avoid them all together.

I’ve been using a Rapala rod tube for years and never had a problem with rod tips. I fished last night and in preparation of going out today, I thought I’d retie a knot. I pulled a rod out and the tip was broken. Dang. You jinxed me. Time to stick with my hard case.

Seems silly to waste $100 – $150 on a Rod case when you can get a perfectly good rod case by Eagle Claw or Flambeau Style for $40 on sale. Kind of stupid in fact to pay that much money for a rod case.

I own nothing but Thorne Bros customs (close to 20 or so) and the $50 case is perfect, they are completely protected.

I got 3 Flambeaus for the price of one Scheels. And they weigh a fraction of the weight.

If you have rods that are longer than the case like a large number of us do, the flambeau case and most others are useless.

I bought the flambeau one a few years ago and didn’t have high expectations. Fast forward 3 years and it’s showing no signs of dying. I paid maybe $30-35 on sale.

For the guys making 10 mile runs on sled over breakers and whatnot, the spendy cases are likely a wise choice. For the guys walking out on river spots like I do where ice is thinner, it’d be a waste as my gear doesn’t get too beat up from travel. Same goes for the guy driving out to his metro spots and plopping down to fish.

How does a rod tube break a tip?Someone shoving a 36″ rod into a 34″ tube?Socks/sleeves do suck.I made individual tube scabbards for my rods, when secured there is about 2″ of clearance between tip and opening.

It amazes me the so-called plumbing stores that don’t know the difference between Schedule 40 solid core and 40 foam core.I have to ask them if it is printed”Not for Pressure”on tube.Foam core is cheaper and lighter.

Been using the Ice Armor soft case for 10 years now. it holds six rods and a bunch of other goodies. i keep seeing all these new cases out but they are just gigantic so i keep rolling with the same one. i don’t think they make them any more or they are rebranded by Clam possibly? 90% of my fishing is pulled by hand so no need for a big bulky case, i got to go as light as i can these days.

I do not have expensive rods. However,I dont like tangled messes.
Cheap golf tubes to the rescue.

Yeah, it actually happens a lot. At tuned up, we see a lot of broken tips from tubes. Sometimes people shove the tips up against the ends. Sometimes the tip top guide sets caught on the end of the tube and people yank them out. Sometimes people actually bend the tips over missing the opening of the tube. I think the main reason there are problems is your can’t see the tip in the tube. Obviously if you’re super careful, a tube can be super secure. But we get way more broken rods from tubes and rod socks than we do from hard sided cases.

I hear ya Dan.I made mine where the tip is still about 2″ inside, and left ends open.So I can see if the tip is curled from line tension,I slacken it to where rod is straight.I labeled them for proper length, and are fairly light and secure.I made these because they fit nicely in the center of a Clam Kenai pro 1-man.Can get 4 of them in that apron under seat.
I looked into the golf club tubes and most that I saw online where only about 34″ long and seemed flimsy.

I’ve been through several different cases trying to find the one I like. I agree with others on here the Eskimo case is the best by far the best IMO. Good quality with storage space for lure boxes and other stuff, but the ease of storing your rods securely is what makes it a great case.

Acme tools online has the eskimo case for $45. They show 1000 in stock which seems odd. Buyer beware I guess.
