its been along winter and the ice fishing hasnt been that great either. looking forward to the madison fishing expo and then open water walleyes.
February 1, 2011 at 11:59 pm #932528Just started thinhking about getting the winter boat over to Newville, but then this snow. The launch at Anchor Inn typically gets plowed in, since they take and push the snow into the ramp area, figuring that no crazies will be using the launch. Well, little do they know….If I get desperate enough, may have to carry the 12 ftr. over the snow banks.
The Madison Expo for me is about as good as seeing the first robins…..open water is just around the corner.
February 2, 2011 at 1:03 am #932556No kidding. This winter’s ice fishing has been less than impressive. I just hope this summer’s fishing is better with more stable water levels than last summer. I go out and stare at the boat a couple of times a week just to get through the cabin fever starting to set in.
February 2, 2011 at 10:24 am #932630Some great speakers this year just to mention a few like Eric Haataja Sunday at 10:30 always great to see Eric, Ted Takasaki one of he best walleye anglers in the world, Ted is there Sat and Sun and Bob Mehsikomer and Joe Bucher. Maybe Joe will play some blues

February 2, 2011 at 2:49 pm #932713My 8yr old boy has been asking about the fishing show for 3 weeks now, probably because i havent exactly got him on fish this yr when we have gone i usually spend most the day saturday at the show im sure ill see some of you guys there.
February 2, 2011 at 8:22 pm #932899Been going to this show for about 6 years now, and always fun to see some familiar faces, and make a sport of trying to mooch some jigs from Jeff. He’s been pretty stingy, though, and I’ve been cheap, so I keep going to my fall-back homemade stand-ups.
This is the only show I’ve gone to for the past couple years…definitely a good one. Might try to do Saturday instead of the typical Fridays I’ve attended, to catch more of the speakers.February 2, 2011 at 8:48 pm #932911Quote:

That’s not fair Ed – LOL – The boss makes me stingy I’ll try to stick a few more in your kids bagFebruary 3, 2011 at 1:55 am #933069Figured I had to get you riled up a bit, Jeff. Just think of all the abuse you could have taken if you joined us at the Racine ice outing. My son actually asked me about the show today, to see if we’re going. C U there.

Hello Jeff,
Will Fin-Tech be selling jigs this year?
WeFish
WeFish if fin-tech decides to go I would assume they only sell kits or specials. I talk with fin-tech twice a week and keep prodding Mike Huppert to get signed up. I hope the expo are not full and still will take fin-tech, just have to see and wait. If you go to madfishexpo and check out exhibitors you will see there not signed up yet. Hope to be there but if fin-tech don’t show up I’m staying home. cross your finger because I really want to go for the weekend.
EZ – you always did know how to get me worked up
February 15, 2011 at 11:13 am #937601Will be heading up Saturday. Should have two or three friends coming along as well. Snow melt is getting the spring fever reved up. Haven’t been on the water since getting out with databoy early last fall. Need a fix bad.
February 15, 2011 at 5:07 pm #937741So does anyone know if the ramp at Anchor inn is open? I’ve seen it before with plowed snow blocking access. Aching to get back out there.
February 16, 2011 at 12:57 am #937867Was at the bar Saturday and it was plowed in. Might be melted down some. Car topper could probably get it done.
February 16, 2011 at 9:35 pm #938175Thanks for the launch report. Seems that when i call the Anchor Inn to find out, the gals that answer the phone act like they don’t have a clue, and don’t want to check it for me.
February 19, 2011 at 1:59 am #939117any chance a small seem has opened up on the river to pitch a jig into? tho fishing for whitefish in sturgeon bay is a good time
February 19, 2011 at 3:10 pm #939205well the river is open here in janesville and there were a few guys fishing indianford yesterday but they said they werent catching anything.
February 20, 2011 at 3:20 am #939340Yeah,i figured it was down that way,a bit vague when i typed it i was meaning the downtown fort area, that way when i get bored after not catching anything,id be home faster
February 20, 2011 at 1:51 pm #939415Checked out the boat landing upstream from traxler park. All open there. Piers in and ready to go. I didnt even realize it was there. Anybody have information on navigating the river from there up to Indianford mid-march to mid-april.
February 20, 2011 at 5:31 pm #939516kv56 i have run up to indianford many times. i usually launch at the hwy 14 launch and its about a 8 mile run up to the dam. but when you get about a mile away from the dam it gets real shallow when the water is down but when the water is up you can run all the way up to the dam no problem. the only thing is when the river starts coming up they usually make slow no wake on the river so its usually not worth it during slow no wake. also watch out where the yahara river comes in because theres a big sand bar in the middle of the river and you want to stay tight to the right shore line. if you want i can show you how to navigate it some weekend if you would like. just shoot me a pm
February 20, 2011 at 7:08 pm #939559There’s good fishing now at Sauk, Dells and Petenwell all areas only two hour drive and pool 4 just a bit longer drive .
February 20, 2011 at 10:08 pm #939655Thanks Netman. Would be fun to run the river with you. Have wanted to try this section for awhile now.
February 20, 2011 at 10:11 pm #939657Wouldn’t mind trying sauk if I can get the boat out of jail in a few weeks.
February 22, 2011 at 12:26 am #940188The seven dwarfs are walking around the WI Capitol singing “Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to work we go.” Docs carrying a sign that says, “Don’t compromise patient care.” Sleepy’s sign says, “Did I sleep during the negotiations or weren’t there any?” Happy’s sign says, “We love children.” Sneezy’s, “This bill stinks” and Grumpy’s, “This doesn’t make me very happy.” Bashful’s sign says, “I’m ashamed of the GOP.” Finally, Dopey was trailing far behind with a sign that said “I agree with the bill 100% even though I didn’t read the whole thing.”
February 22, 2011 at 12:30 am #940190With the new govenor as his role model it’s rumored Dopey will run for the office next.
