January Fishing Reports

OK. A couple bags of trout spawn sacks. I can do that.

I’ll take care of the ice to keep our food and drinks cold.

I’m in and think my brother is going too. We’re both equipped with tip-ups and jig poles but won’t have trout bait either. I stopped a few places for a Gulp imitation but can’t find it around here either.

Anybody have a small portable grill? If we get a head count we could do Johnsonville’s.

Great idea on the hot food, but no grill here. what time we thinking about starting this outing?

I have a grill,will bring it with me,also may have a guy from work coming along.greg get with me if you need to follow me down,or want to ride with me.

I’ll call you on Friday. Most likely I’ll follow you down if my brother is going. I think WeFish is going too and will likely ride with one of us. I only have enough room for 2 guys with gear. I’ll give him a call if he doesn’t chime in here. I can pickup a couple dozen brats & buns. You gotta bring your own beer to wash ’em down. Jeff, what’s keeping you busy? It’d be nice to see you out there too.

how about we meet in parking lot by spinakers at 7am,i have plenty of skien for everyone,med shiners work well too.we will need plenty of spawn sacs tho,as you change them out every 30 min.i have room for 3 guys if needed.

I’ll pick up some shiners…whadya think…2 to 3 dozen? and where’s Spinakers? this is new territory for me.

id say 2 dozen be plenty,where we can park/meet is on christopher columbus drive.what i do is enter in racine harbor park on gps,the small coffee shop/building is before the park,on the left ,look for the bridge that goes over the harbor,we park in the parking lot far left corner.i have a white ford f150.

Will be there with a buddy from an old job new to ice fishing. Also time shortened due to some family issues so I have to boogie at 1100ish.

My wife and her job but it beat the alternative. Been there done that.

Room for two more? Looks like I won’t have to work Saturday , and my son and myself would like to try fishing Lake Michigan.

Can a person get an ATV out there?
I’ve got a portable grill I can bring, along with some brats and dogs.
Will be coming from Elkhorn area, would have room and equipment for a couple more too….

How about ATV travel? Can a person LEGALLY get a bike out there? Going off the boat launch in the harbor or where?

hey prodrive good to have you aboard .an atv isnt needed at all,and ive never seen one out there before,as you dont enter the harbor to fish at the launch.its only a short walk from where we park,to where we fish

Cool, we’ll plan on being at Spinaker’s (not sure where it’s at, but must be close to the harbor…) by 7am.
I’ll bring a grill, brats, dogs, and fixin’s, also will have a bucket o minnows(to fish with, although if anyone wants a snack…)
Looking forward to meeting a few IDO’ers. Will have a blue 4 door f-350.

Never done it before. What kind of equipment is needed?? Do you use tip-ups or something else.I have seen a couple shows but never wanted to invest in some equipment that never gets used.

A couple tip-ups and a jigging rod is all you need. I dusted off my tip-ups, and bought a 10 buck Rhino ice rod and put a spinning reel on it, and away we go. I’ll be jigging gulp and spoons, and hanging shiners and spawn on the tip-ups. Not sure what the experts are set up with, but having some fun and making new buddies is what it’s all about. glad to see you’re joining us.

you can also fish with tip ups with skien off the bottom,use 10ft long floro leader,no.10 treble hook,small split shot.i also use a small slip bobber and fish spawn sac off my jig rod.

the group is growing, and so is the food list. A buddy of mine is joining us from chicago, and bringing alon a dozen Polish and buns, a a dozen Ponchki. Doesn’t sound like we’re going to go hungry.

sounds good zman. i.ll see if a buddy wants to share the gas. Sounds like a good time. I,ll bring something along to share. i am not sure 100% sure i’ll be there yet though.
