I drove by the hwy 26 bypass launch and two rigs were parked there. One of which was notable. It was a Chevy 2500 with a Prestige trailer made for Yarcraft, NPAA 913 decal in the cap window and a tow spray flap with 2006 PWT Champion emblazoned on it. That’s got to be Tom Kemos fishing our little pond. I hope he posts something about his experience.
May 1, 2010 at 4:03 am #868440I guess let me be the first to show my ignorance…. Who’s Tom Kemos, a local guy turned pro? Just wondering…

Yeah you could say that –

Tommy Skarlis 4
Dan Stier 5
Todd Riley 6
Scott Steil 7
Tom Kemos 8

Ross Grothe 10I’m kind of shocked he’s not fishing the FLW Ill River this weekend.
When did you see him?
May 2, 2010 at 3:51 pm #868591Was out this am on the river/lake,not much to report for fishing,as it was mainly a maiden run for the new rig.all went well.did try some minnows around downed trees for some crappies, came up empty handed, but i was playing with electronics more than paying attention to the fish this time. its game on now
May 3, 2010 at 2:37 am #868677Jeff, I got the same response from the “other” website. I was visiting the Ford dealership around 4pm when I decided to check out the launch and found Tommy’s rig in the lot. I was hoping that someone from the area had invited him to fish our little pond and would post the results here or at the other site. So far nothing.
May 3, 2010 at 9:39 am #868710I’ve meet Kemos on this body of water before. He just likes to get away once in while just like any other normal angler. He’s a really cool angler, something must of happen that he wasn’t fishing the last two days at the FLW Ill, river event.
Any body out fishing Sunday? man it was nice and little wind, I would bet the walleyes were poping. I went turkey hunting in the morning and shot a 23lbs 11″ bread and 1″ spurs then did put all blinds and hunting gear and cleaning then yard work and honey to do list. Monday afternoon might be doable if weather permits.
May 3, 2010 at 1:28 pm #868725I took my son out for a few hours on Sunday and they were popping! Same spot I found fish before but all under 15″. Nothing at the mouth except a white bass and the waves were still rolling in pretty good. Nobody else was fishing for walleye in the river, just a few white bassing by Fort and quite a few shore fishing downtown.
May 4, 2010 at 12:55 am #868978nope, roofing and prom on saturday night so it was quite a long weekend.
May 5, 2010 at 11:32 pm #869675Monday and Tuesday couldn’t fish the mouth to windy, no fish any where else. Wednesday had a EDG so I was alittle out of it, Thursday who knows where to fish.
I know one thing I’m not crossing the lake if it’s like last week Thursday, I’ll take my chances at Newville.
May 6, 2010 at 2:09 am #869710Thought you guys were crazy for crossing the lake last week ! Should be much nicer this week if we don’t get the thunder . I’m thinking close to launch in Newville, but maybe with a presentation twist
May 8, 2010 at 8:45 am #870465Ed aka EZ are you out there buddy? Saw you out Thursday night, how did you do? we only got one keeper and lost a nice one at the boat. It was Thursday night tourney you should have join the fun. Sorry we didn’t get time to talk.
May 9, 2010 at 12:45 am #870570Yup, saw you guys as I was heading back to land the boat. Just a couple white bass and goats…not even a dink eye for me. Had some free time in the afternoon, so decided to give the Rock a try. Trolled Kosh for about 3 hours before heading into the river to jig, and nada on Kosh. Man, did it chill down quick late afternoon….
May 9, 2010 at 12:19 pm #870623Walleye fishing sure has change the last couple years here on the rock for the worst, it’s to bad, and the fishing pressure is more than it’s ever was, when is it going to get noticed by the DNR, I’ll tell you when, when it’s to late. I think it’s to late now, anyway sorry for venting it was good seeing you Ed even if we did not talk, I wish for you to have better luck next time. There are a couple walleyes still around, not many but a few because we all released them Thursday.
May 9, 2010 at 2:41 pm #870658yeah i have to agree with ya jeff. tons of pressure and no slot doesnt help at all. tons of little guys but not a lot of the the 18-25 inchers in there. well hopefully we can still get a fish or 2 on thursdays.

It’s kinda of scary the last couple weeks how quite this thread has been. Just another quick point, note, whatever just trying to get a point across I guess , couple years ago this was the best time to catch walleyes for me. I always question myself when I would make my year trip to Eagle River why I’m I leaving with the walleyes biting so good. Now I can’t wait to go to Eagle River this year.
May 13, 2010 at 11:05 am #871659Here you Jeff. Don’t think the weather of late is going to help much either. Looking forward to Lake Erie next week. Hopefully better when I get back.
May 15, 2010 at 11:43 am #872218You guys must have got tossed around around pretty good thurs night.was at my boys soccer game, and think the wind blew over one of the kids
May 15, 2010 at 4:34 pm #872229yeah it was pretty rough out there. i think there were only 3 fish weighed in. tough conditions for sure. hopefully it calms down and we can back to catching some fish next week.
May 27, 2010 at 12:56 am #845021It has to get better. Trolled the lake for a while to teach a buddy about boards and to try a couple new areas. Needless to say the only one to produce was the rock pile but no legals. 5 walleye, biggests 14.9999 and two very nice white bass. Had a couple drive bys. But as we all know if you find white bass .
Dragged shad raps in the usual colors, neon jointed rapala minnow and white rapala minnow. Each caught something. Sign languaged another boat and they were also catching shorts.
Most boats seemed to be in the search mode not the circling pattern over fish.

May 29, 2010 at 12:02 am #875935trolling bite – two more weeks if the water drops – stay high fish the river
When the whitebass get done spawning in the river that only means one thing to Mr.walleye
