hey any of you guys ever ice fish lake ripley? me and a couple friends are probably going to try it out next friday. i was thinking probably just fish milwaukee bay. looking for panfish and northerns. by the way kosh has been pretty slow the past couple trips. only one flag today and it was a drop.
January 17, 2010 at 2:19 pm #832917Made it down to racine harbor sat,had two buddies with me that had never fished for browns thru the ice.was a slow day, went 1 for 3.iced a brown about 5 lbs, lost a big brown right at the hole.and missed one tip up tho it was funny.we decided if we got a flag, that whoever saw it first, would take it by sliding lou brock style feet first cleats up to the flag(no snow on ice and you could slide forever).well my buddy had a slight miscalculation,as he slide about 10yds right over the top on my tip up lost the fish, tho he was safe at second,he owes me a new tip up,but worth the price of admission,we laughed about it the rest of the day.
January 17, 2010 at 5:36 pm #832966Was out Myself, Fished Lake Ripley earley am for three hours managed to bring a nice meal home for the pan. Not much for fishing pressure everyone was over at Red Cedar lake for the fisheree. Gold Gill Pill number 8 jig with a red bead and looking down the hole site fishing and setting the hook. Another key was finding 6′ to 7′ of water with weeds left and right down the hole but a two foot clearing of the bottom. WeFish

January 24, 2010 at 3:05 am #835550Here’s how I beat the winter blues today…pulled out the Pfleugers and Shimanos for a good cleaning and greasing, changed the line, etc., thinking about warmer days all along. Still looking for the open water opportunity, as soon as I can get the work and home schedules, and Ma Nature to align.
January 24, 2010 at 4:04 pm #835635Seeing it was raining this weekend ,and didnt feel like getting soaked ice fishing(something just wrong with that)i hopped in the boat in the garage and made some more motor boat noises, now im gettin itchy even checked out the river for a small open patch.
January 25, 2010 at 2:38 pm #836021And what did you see on the river…any open water?? iw ould think that Newville might be open, but haven’t made th trip there to look.

So was it a 4 stroke or two.
January 25, 2010 at 10:29 pm #836253Not much open around fort area, still locked up pretty well, and with colder weather on way, think it will be a while. on a side note,First it was a 2-stroke(E-tec main engine) then 4 stroke(kicker),and the wife could tell the difference by the pitch of the engine noises i was making, when she came out in the garage for a soda, gave me a goofy look said sounds like i was trolling

Welcome to IDO kv56January 26, 2010 at 1:33 pm #836458What took you so long? Welcome to IDO! I’m way ahead on my schedule and have been sharpening hooks – over, and over, and… I hope there’s still some hook left by April or I’ll have to buy jigs again.
January 27, 2010 at 12:38 am #836787Nice job on the hooks data, hear those thin hooks stick good. Thanks for the nice welcome. Sorry for the snazzy avatar havent had time to figure them out yet.
January 28, 2010 at 12:54 am #837191avatar what’s that? sounds like an new fishing lure oh boy better stick to the fishing reports or will get in trouble, oh yeah that’s the other fishing site. KV looks great
January 28, 2010 at 2:39 am #837221I’ve heard the best part of getting into trouble is the fun doing it…. As for a report, rumor is the ice is deeper than the water in some parts of the lake.
