It’s time kids and anglers. You still have to work at it but if you put in your time you should not be disapointed.

Glad to see you didn’t give up fishing, Jeff. Thought you fell off the face of the earth for a while.
Been thinking that it’s about time to get back out to the rock, but have a couple local lake outings in the works first….then after that, walleye, watch out! Time to ease into the fall pattern. See ya on the water one of these times.September 15, 2009 at 3:41 pm #804439Great to hear from you Jeff. Lookin’ forward to getting over to the Rock. If any of you boat anglers could keep us shore fishermen informed of the water temp, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck out there.

Glad to hear from you Jeff. The river has been quiet for way too long. Will be heading that way in a week or two to shake the cob webs loose.

September 18, 2009 at 9:27 am #805011Hi guys good to hear from you all. Plan on doing some morning fishing this weekend hope to see you alll on the water or shore. Was out yesterday afternoon with only a few crappie and no walleye. Water temp back up to 75 so it’s going to be a week or so to get it back down under 70. Fishing has been slow but fun to get the boat out and look at wildlife.
September 18, 2009 at 1:17 pm #805029With the summer temps I’m not sure I’m ready to give up bass fishing yet. I just got my second St. Croix Mojo Bass frog rod and I still need to hit the slop for the first time. It’s been a tough fishing month with no wind and when there is a wiff it’s easterly, the water temp is up, the algae blooms are healthy, and there’s been bluebird sky’s – I barely remember seeing a cloud in September. I may be on the river though later Saturday afternoon and possibly a couple hours Sunday only because I may just have narrow windows of fishing time which isn’t enough for chasing bass. I was thinking of losing a few jigs to crappie also, last year I remember catching a few nice ones before the walleyes were ready to cooperate. See you all soon!
September 20, 2009 at 11:55 pm #805323Made it out solo bright and early on Saturday morning. My son was sponsored by a friend for the youth duck hunt, so got up with him at 4, and headed for the Rock at 5 when he left for a secret marsh. Started fishing just up from the bypass bridge about 6:15, and couple other areas up from there, before heading down to the mouth. Very slow for me….several goats, a few good rips and missed fish on plastic, and that’s all she wrote. The serenity of the quiet river at sunrise is going to bring me back for another early trip…hopefully, the walleye will be awake next time.
September 21, 2009 at 9:37 am #805365I also was out Saturday morning up by the Bark River to 106 bridge with no fish. Z-Man sounds like we had the river covered in the Fort area with no results, that’s kind of scary
September 21, 2009 at 1:21 pm #805392Well, Jeff, as you too know, the Rock can dish out a whipping every now and then. Sorry to hear that I wasn’t the only one to eat humble pie on Saturday. Could’ve stayed out longer, but called it quits at 11:30, to go home and get some work done, so that when the bite heats up, which should be soon, I can go back and have my way with the eyes.
BTW, water temps were at 66 degrees on Saturday, so on their way down.
