With the water levels much higher, good current and water & air temps below 40 I new the day would be a good one. The air temps been a steady 38 to 44 degrees and water been 36 to 39. Most of the reports on some of the popular area said it’s been slow. So I new with the new water levels that would let me get to some of my other hot spots. There not big fish spots but areas that you can get numbers and keep clients happy(Good Eater Fish) . I started off in 8 FOW Got my dead rod out with a 1/4oz lindy no snag sinker, one foot leader and #6 gold hook. Slapped on a big old fathead and before it hit the bottom I had a nice 16″ sauger. Put on another minnow and then started to vertical jig. On one rod I had a 3/8oz Zone-R Nuckle Ball jig in the black/orange color with a fathead, some times hooked two fatheads on. The other rod I had 3/8oz Zone-R in glow/green with 4″ Chart.Green Core Ringworm. The ringworm bite at times was hot then it would shut down and minnows were hot. I was alway catching fish on the dead rod to. It was sure nice catching fish on the ringworm. Baiting your jigs with minnow at times got your hands cold. Thanks for hand warmer
. Lots of fish were caught in 10 to 14 FOW. It really didn’t matter what kind of bottom it was. Sunday should be better and I would bet that fishing will stay good until ice. Until next time, Be safe, take a kid fishing and practice CPR.
