Anglers now is time to fish for walleyes on the Rock River around the Newville WI area west of Lake Koshkonong or on the east side of the lake on the Rock River around the Blackhawk Island area. Water temp are at the 40 degree or lower now and water is high and current is fast from all this rain we had last week and looks like more to come this week. Will report on the bite in the next couple of days.

When I was on my way out to the woods to do some scouting I stopped at the side of the road which is by the river and watch two boats catching some keeper walleyes or saugers. The fish were really popping around 8:00 AM. It was fun watching them it all most made me turn around and go get my boat.

    Hey Bola,

How’s it going. I FINALLY got out on the Rock:) I found the launch under the 26 bridge and they pulled the dock already. This made trailering the boat quite interesting with the shallow ramp. Some cold wet feet but I digress. Fishing was very slow . Two short walleye and three missed bites. They hit very very lightly and pretty much just mouthed the baits. There is definitely more current in the river and not many people were out. So the short of it (no pun intended) was no keepers, cold feet, and a great day on the water. I plan to be out on Sunday for possibly the last time for the year unless the fishing picks up. The honey do list keeps a growing.

Good fishing and keep your stick on the ice

Diesel, thanks for the report on the launch. I can’t believe they pulled the dock all ready. What a bummer . I’ll make sure I bring my hip boots. I also will be out Sunday. See you out on the water.
