Thanks for the report Jeff! Awesome picks! Got my blood pressure up just looking at those FAT fish! Our area of the Rock requires a canoe to fish a lot of the areas. SO low last time I crossed it. I gotta find a way to get to some of the good holes down this way! Thanks!

Thanks Rooster, this was just a little teaser I hope. The fall bite has not started full swing yet, to much weather change and high pressure. The fish are there but it’s hard to get a constant bite. With the full moon right now the best bite I find is about lunch time 11:00am to 2:00pm. Right now you have to put in some time to catch fish like the one’s in the pictures. I fished hard for 18 hours in two day to catch those fish. Anglers that think that they can come to the Rock River around here and only fish a 3 or 4 hours are going to be disapointed unless they get real luckly. But soon when the fall run starts you will be able to fish 3 or 4 hour to get some nice fish. My guess is around the new moon this month the bite should be on full swing.

Thanks for the info Jeff. The Mississippi here on pool 14 is still a little on the slow side. I believe around the same time it should really pick up here also. Hope we get a little cold weather to bring water temps down into the 40’s. It had gotten into the low 50’s, but now is back up near 60.
Do you fish a “lake” on the Rock? We have virtually no water in the Rock down here. Also wondering if you get the majority of your fish in areas near deep water, or are they really spread out, or relating to other structure? Very few people fish the Rock here for walleye. It is considered almost entirely a catfish fishery here. I know there are some very nice eyes and also smallmouth in the river, but have had a hard time finding them when I do get away from the Miss. Average depth here is about 4-6 feet at “normal” levels, but this year it would be tough to float a flatboat on most stretches of the river. Any pointers would really be great!
    Thanks,
    John

I don’t fish the lake that much. Only once in a while when the trolling bite is on in June or July this year it was June. Most of the time I do fish near deep holes, but since the water is so low and little current the bait fish can go just about any where so that means fish are spread out. I’ll fish a spot no longer than a hour then I move on.
