Plan on doing a little ice fishing this morning. Hope to have a report later in the week.
February 3, 2008 at 10:02 pm #651069Didn’t have a good morning ice fishing. This morning I fished Hope Lake for three hours, fished in 17 fow down 10 foot where I found fish but they wouldn’t bite. Ended up with two little gills and that was it.
February 3, 2008 at 11:26 pm #651087Afternoon bite was’nt that good either on RockLake, tried to put Databoy on some fish and he managed to catch a few gills the vexlar lit up many times but I think the fish were lockjaw today.
WeFishFebruary 4, 2008 at 3:46 am #651155hit a couple places this weekend, was on kegonsa sat,30 ft water for perch, would mark fish for 2ft at times on the marcum flasher, but managed one big perch, sun was in monona bay with my 5yr old boy, caught alot of dinks, and about 8 nice gills/crappie,but slow compared to how i have been doing.think ill try waubesa again next weekend.
February 10, 2008 at 12:44 pm #653512Anybody make it out to Norm’s to see the finally results for the Bounty Hunt?
February 15, 2008 at 10:36 am #655399Pretty quiet here. You guys better get some chatter going here or spring time could be a long time off.
Madison Fishing Expo starts in one week. Anybody going?
February 15, 2008 at 2:29 pm #655464You’re right, Jeff.with this weather, spring seems like it’s a lonnnnnnnnnnnnng way off yet.
Going to try to make the Fishing Expo again with my son and his buddies. It’s been a great outing with the boys, challenging them to see who could mooch the most stuff. They get very creative. But I have a huge dilemna…..looks like the winter weather might be breaking some next weekend, and thinking about getting an open water fix at either Petenwell Dam, or maybe even Red Wing if there a good forecast for 4 days. Decisions, decisions, decisions. but if I don’t fish, will see you there.
February 15, 2008 at 7:33 pm #655600Ha, now that’s funny! I think it’s a M-80 and a short fuse. According to that groundhog we should be able to get out in about a week now so I can show you. Just don’t be like Jeff and stay away from the snacks so you can get by without getting a bigger boat.
February 16, 2008 at 2:52 am #655716Now you tell me!!!!!
That is all I have to do to get a bigger boat.
Where’s the beer again?
February 17, 2008 at 9:54 pm #656040Forget about the boat just show up at the fishing expo to talk old time fishing stories.
February 18, 2008 at 1:52 am #656100made it out to waubesa ,green lantern side sat, fished 6;30a till 9;30 amm, drilled a dozen holes from 5 ft to 10 ft water, not one fish marked on the flasher, didnt see any fish caught by others, went to monona bay for 2 hours, coaght lots of dinks, but wanted to try out my new 48in pulsator rod, best ice rod i own.since i caught nothing big enough, had to go out for a steak sat night, ran into andy and his wife, cant blame the chef for an over cooked steak at prime quarter, lol.
February 23, 2008 at 11:36 pm #658141First the river condition report. Stopped at the Anchor Inn for Friday Fish fry with my wife and son, on the way to the Fishing Expo. River at newville is wide open, well almost. there’s ice about 10 to 12 feet from the shore, and then it’s open. But the shoreline ice is preventing the Anchor Inn and Harbor Rec from opening their ramps…..but shouldn’t be long now.
Spent the evening at the show, visiting with a number of IDOers. Tried to buy a few dozen jigs from Jeff, but he wouldn’t sell me any?? and to top it off, my son and I were having a mooching competition throughout the evening, seeing who could mooch the most stuff. Well, after the Yarcraft folks were nice enough to lay a hat on the boy and me, (man, those new Yars are nice!…gotta hang onto mine for a while, though), I thought I had the competition all wrapped up. But then….first James and Dave Koonz step in, and hand my son a hat, and then Jeff gives the little mooch some Fin-tech goodies, and that was all she wrote…the little guy put a whooping to me. Now he can’t wait to go out fishing and use the jigs and wear the hat….thanks guys!
anyway, it’s a fun show, so if you haven’t made it yet, there’s one more day tomorrow.February 24, 2008 at 3:47 pm #658226It is nice to now be an official member of the Fin-tech fishing team. Thanks Jeff.
February 24, 2008 at 10:53 pm #658324Good to see you all. It was a great show. The weather was perfect.
February 27, 2008 at 3:34 am #659365hey databoy, why don’t I see your new sponsor listed in your signature? Show was worth going to even if I didn’t try to buy a boat this year.
February 27, 2008 at 4:28 pm #659537I suppose accepting a hat makes me a paid angler so you’re right Bob! How’s this?
February 29, 2008 at 5:49 am #660332in that case ive got me a sponsor,master-card,lol as for fishing, took my 5 yr old boy to monona, caught a few, kept none, saw 4 muskies on the cam, little guy fished 4 hrs,he does like the ole marcum 460 cam,im figuring having it along buys me about 2 extra hours fishing ,lol
