Launched at the DNR public launch in Newville 06:30 it was semi foggy, started motoring up to the Hwy 59 bridge pilons had the whole place to Myself started doing the vertical jig routine, caught many short ones and it seemed to really turn on around 010:30 fishing under the bridge when the sun came out. I managed to bring a few home for the grill. They seemed to like the Zone-Rs red/black with a Gulp minnow, glow/green with a Gulp leech and even tryed a pink/white with a nightcrawler.Had a good time and will be back at it Monday.

It’s good to see a report for the Rock…has been a long quiet spell. Been a few weeks since I’ve been there. May get a chance to get out one of these afternoons, so thanks for the report.

Good job WeFish! Good to hear you did ok with the Gulp minnows too, they’ve been my secret bait the last couple of years, especially once the crawlers get soft in the heat. I tried that bridge last Thursday evening and there wasn’t much going on, good to see that’s changed also.

Tough bite this weekend. Had fun tubing and boating when not fishing.

Another slow morning. Started at 6:30 off by 11 AM. 1 small walleye and 1 small channel cat both caught on green/glow Lindy 1/4 Max Gap jig and 1/2 a crawler. Missed one that felt big down by the power lines and a couple short bites, that was it. I may try it again a couple hours before dark tonight, otherwise it looks like there’ll be plenty of fish left in the pond for next month. Real foggy for the first 1/2 hour or so. What made the day was the flock of about 100 pelicans circling overhead, beautiful site against the blue sky. Less than a dozen boats out, just one pleasure boat and one jet ski so it was a nice quiet morning.
