I tried a few casts of a jig and twister for 30-40 minutes both Saturday and Sunday afternoon, no bites either day.

Tried it for about an hour on Monday along the 106 wall. Water was just over the top of the wall and very fast. Too fast to keep my bottom rigs out. Gonna try it again tomorrow and this time I’m bringin’ some big weights . Probally will start by the mouth of the Bark and work my way downstream. After last year, this has to be a good one. Good luck all.

Thanks for the report hard water.

Talked to some shore anglers Tuesday and nobody catching anything downtown but they were donating jigs and plastics to the mighty rock.

Don’t take that the wrong way. With the high water and fast current and you want to catch fish you have to get to the bottom. So if your donating your on the bottom.

Tried it last Thursday for a about 3 hours in the afternoon. Got a couple hits, but again it was hard keeping the rig out. Was fishing along the 106 wall east of Robert Street bridge. Water was about 6 ft past the wall up the shore and really fast. Saw one fisherman with a 18″ male. Gonna try again late on Tuesday afternoon and into the night.

Some call it combat fishing. Which is why I am in no hurry to get to the rock right now. Will get back to the Rock after I get some some boat work done.

I managed to get to the river between 2:30 and 4 PM Sunday to fish from shore down river from Robert Street. I did contribute a few jigs to the bottom before getting my first bite of the year at 3 PM and hauled in a 19.25″ female. It hit on a 3/8 oz Lindy Max Gap jig and a 4″ Lindy Munchie both in chartreuse. Lots of boats out all weekend. I didn’t see anyone anchored getting bites and those drifting were flying by so fast in the current I don’t know how they could manage to keep a rig near the bottom. Apparently the current must have been too much for most trolling motors because I didn’t see any of them trying to slip the current. I even got out to the family pond Saturday with my 4 year old who has been begging to fish with me for months. The best part is we didn’t catch anything but he still had a blast and wants to go again. I also took him to the Madison zoo Sunday morning and watched the muskies try to jump the spillway into Lake Wingra. That’s definitely something worth going to see if you’ve never been there. See you on the river. – Gregg
