OK guys, new month here so lets get some reports in. Looking at last year I know I did better in November so I know all you experts should slay them soon

Sorry, the wife’s got other plans for me. Making me head to Pool 4 tomorrow evening, to battle the MN cold, and mongo sauger/eyes. Warm up them Rock eyes, though, cuz “I’ll be back.”
Been a quiet year on the rock. Plan to give it a try this weekend. Anyone going out or got a report other than Z-man slaying the saugers on the Miss?
Derek
Hoping to start getting out there, Diesel, to get more fish like these….oops, wrong thread, but take a look at the Pool 4 report for details.
All I have to say is that AIN’T right.
Well Done man. Maybe someday I can schedule a trip like that for me and my Dad. That would be a blast for him!!
Since fishing seems to be slow on the Rock I may be putting the boat away soon and hitting the streams for steelhead. They are doing pretty good now!

Almost headed over to the Rock late this morning, but guilt set in, and stayed home to catch up on stuff I’ve let slide the past couple weeks. Hopefully, we’ll see some decent weather before winter really sets in. The week of Thanksgiving can be a treat out there, cuz it’s empty, and the fish are usually hungry.
If the boat runs I’ll be out. Got the whole week of turkey day off. pray for good weather.
Alright you guys, since November has been pretty quiet here goes.
There is a reason it has been pretty quiet at least from my fishing point of view and others I spoke to on the river.
Got up and got to the river before sunrise as usual. Cold but a beautiful sunrise. Lots of deer moving around. Saw four does and a buck driving in. Lets just say it was scary as all the deer were at the road side waiting to cross
Launched at Riverfront. Two drifts and two bites both small walleye about 10 and 14 inchers. Now body else on the water for two hours (bad or good sign – you figure it out) Ran the milk run at the usual spot with nothing. Saw only one boat a the VFW. Gave it two drifts and we both left.
Headed back to blackhawk. Picked up another hit for a miss and then a 16.5 incher. Nice and fat and I mean stuffed (hint hint). There is a reason fishing has been slow.
Well overall the fishing was really slow as I saw two other short fish caught. Was told a guy caught a 36 inch northern for a release and one guy told me he got a 15.5.
The fish there but they are not hitting the baits. I fished plastic all day for nothing. The fish I caught were on a river rig and minnow and standard Zone R and minnow. Tried crawlers and even tried to loose a Zip lure. Lot of new debris on the river bottom as lots of big snags in the holes now. You can mark them on the flasher before you loose everything
Plan to winterize the boat soon unless some time frees up and I can get out again.
Water temp 38 to 30. Air temp Darn cold at 30 mph.
Derek
Sorry the fish didn’t cooperate yesterday. I’d bet a dime that the Stuffed belly on the 16.5 incher you described, was filled with frogs?? Not that I’m a glutton for punishment, but active fish or not, this stretch of the Rock is nice and quiet this time of year, and if I can break away next week or two, I’ll give it a crack…as the saying goes, a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at the office, or a good day on honey-do chores, etc. etc. Hoping for some decent weather.
You got it!! I counted 10 corpses!!! As I said the fish are there just gotta work on the presentation. Also found a mini man made wing dam. Not in current but could hold shallow fish during high water in the evenings.
Explains a lot but not an excuse for not catching more. Presentation was keeping the jig just inches off the bottom and not moving it much. Probably my best bite/catch ratio of 75%.
If you plan to get out let me know.
I was hoping to get out Friday or Saturday. Still too early to tell, though. You’re welcome to jump in with me if I make it.
Made it out today solo, and got a big fat zero. ouch! Couple hits and one eye that got unhooked as I was tuna-ing it into the boat, and that’s all she wrote. Tried the usual areas down from VFW all the way to mouth of Kosh. Great day to be on the water, but the lock-jaw was a surprise.
Yikes,
I guess I better go ahead and put the rig away. The lack of report this time of year and when there is one it is pretty much the same is telling me to get to the steelhead fishing since it is hot on the rivers right now!!
Sorry I couldn’t make it Z-man, got the inlaws coming for turkey day and the prep is beating me down
Derek.
Jeff have you heard anyone getting fish.
Haven’t heard of any fish being caught. But that’s because Iv’e been hunting . No just kidding aside. I remember when I would go out fishing during the 9 day deer hunting season and get my limit.
I’m not crying uncle just yet. Looked at my fishing log, and the past two years, the best was late in November…from here on in. but in October and early November, it was still good, so not sure why the tough bite of the past week or two??

Who are you kidding. The tough bite has been for a month of Sundays
(at least in my boat anyway )
Yup, I guess you’re right, but the last outing was unbearable….a big fat SKUNK. Now that hurts. At least on previous outings, I was putting some in the boat, including a few eaters, albeit the bites were far and few between.
