I was wasting my weekend up at the in-laws and thumbed through his magazine collection and found some Wisconsin Outdoors magazines. After reading through a few of Ted Peck’s articles I found a couple quotes by Jeff and a full page photo!!! Not as attractive as the girls in his other mags but to get a full page photo you must be doing something right! Good job Jeff!!! I did manage to get back in time to hit the river for a bit. I casted for northern pike for the first hour a the creek inlets and had a couple follow-ups but no hits. Then I thought I’d try some of those white bass tips though I had to use my own modifications and used a 1/8 oz. white Roadrunner. It took awhile before I realized I had to fish them extremely slow but finally caught a white bass before I had to pull out around 5 PM. I also got a couple of the biggest sheephead ever, one must have been nearly 5 pounds. Anyway, I got my son excited about white bass so we’ll give it another try.

Good to see the river being put to good use, Databoy. How was the pleasure boat traffic??I was hosted by Diesel last year, in July I think, and the place was an absolute zoo. He even posted a pic of some of the close quarter traffic. The pontoon pulling the tuber, zig-zagging around all the fishing boats, was the highlight. Increases my urge to fish elsewhere on weekends, until september rolls around, then back to the Rock for this guy. Keep ’em warmed up for us till then.
August 8, 2006 at 12:58 pm #467349I was out Sunday just after the rain and there were only a few others on the river. Pleasure boat traffic doesn’t seem nearly as bad as last year the few times I’ve been out with the exception of the 4th of July weekend. I guess that’s one benefit of low water. I did get one nice 19″ walleye mid week last week which I didn’t post while casting for northern on a perch X-Rap.
August 8, 2006 at 4:09 pm #467407All you have to do is buy Ted a crispy creme and he will put you in. Thanks Databoy.
August 8, 2006 at 5:34 pm #467432Oh my goodness. A post on the Rock River

August 10, 2006 at 12:50 pm #468056What? “Getting in the fishing mood”! I can’t believe you said that The heat get you down? I thought everyone here was always in the fishing mood, especially you. Anyway, I should be out there this weekend too since the in-laws will be in town and I have to get my father-in-law out of the house or he drives me nuts. I’ll be out in my red 14′ Lund with white 10 hp Honda tiller. Good luck, it sounds like the weather will cooperate and we might not have to sweat just sitting on the water.
August 10, 2006 at 5:26 pm #468172Since my kids have gotten older they take me out of the mood sometimes with there problems and stuff with sports and school . The older they get the harder it is. cya on the water.
August 15, 2006 at 1:37 am #469239Didn’t get out but we took a spin by the rock from fort to blackhawk and there were a lot of people fishing. Looks like they were casting for white bass around the bend at Blackwawk.

August 15, 2006 at 8:03 pm #469516I did get out for a little while Saturday evening. One 5 lb. buffalo and a few white bass is all.
August 16, 2006 at 5:22 pm #469814I got out Saturday also but had boat trouble and didn’t fish . Hopefully will be fixed by this weekend.
August 17, 2006 at 12:30 pm #470133I don’t know Jeff. You are starting to sound like Lou da hippo.
Me thinks I may have to stay away from the Rock since all my role models are taking a beating
August 20, 2006 at 1:02 am #470803Hey now…..I only have crappy stuff happen on Kosh. Everywhere else has been good this year for me. I doubt I will see Kosh again until late October. But, I still watch whats going on.
August 21, 2006 at 4:18 pm #471042Motors back up running. Took the kids tubing all weekend.
Family bonding.August 23, 2006 at 3:25 pm #471634Full page pic of Jeff (even color too!!!)in the Wisconsin Sportsman holding a nice Eye this month.
Hows the water levels up there right now? The Rock is the lowest I have ever seen it down south of Beloit dam into Illinois. Hopefully get some rain soon.
August 24, 2006 at 5:39 pm #472024Water levels are low here also. You better no the waters up here or you will see the prop doctor. It just around the corner for the fall frenzy.
That was a great picture, full page.

September 2, 2006 at 4:09 am #474437Ive painted my boat bright pink, I hung a rainbow flag on it and will be fishing in a thong. Might have a few spots to myself for once!
September 4, 2006 at 5:54 pm #474836Made it out with EZ on the big pond and with mintues I caught this. I think it’s some kind of walleye. Sure don’t look like rock river walleyes. Thanks for the good time and sore Ed
September 4, 2006 at 7:29 pm #474851so the marine forecast was wrong again….go figure…1 to 2 foot waves versus 3 to 4 footers….not off by much I suppose. anyway, gonna be time to chase them rock eyes soon. salmon can help get your wrists and arms conditioned for all-day jigging.
September 5, 2006 at 12:29 pm #474969How is the heck did you get Jeff out!!!!
HOLD ON TO THAT PICTURE!!!!! That could be a collectors item.
Sure beats rock river salmon.
Why is it the forecast was on the good side for Jeff and I get “flu” conditions (ha ha)
Well done Ed and Jeff.
Took the family for pleasure ride Sat without a rod. Of course I have never seen so many pods of baitfish on Nagawicka. Look’s like I am gonna have to go to nagawicka instead of Pine before the Fall rock river bite.

September 5, 2006 at 1:30 pm #474984They were supposed to be 1 to 2 footers, but weren’t….that’s why his fanny took a beating, coming back in from 200 feet of water…an unsmooth 8 mile ride. So did you do the charter with your brother??email me with results.
