Got out Friday from 530 to 900 on the pond. A lot choppier than expected but tied up the drift sock and put the boards out. Cold Cold Cold. Glad I brought my stocking cap and fleece gear. Battled the wind and trolled the rock pile and other spots including the mouth area at Blackwawk. Water temps 58 to 60. Got a 16 and a 14 both on husky jerks and a couple of drive by hits. Nothing on shad raps which was surprising.
Trolled from 1 to 1.8. Love the drift sock. Should have been using a lot longer. Much better speed control on the 40 horse.

Only saw three other boats all trolling the lake. Didn’t see any other fish caught.

It’s been too long since I’ve posted!

Took my best buddy, Matthew, out on the Rock Sunday afternoon and after clearing my bow mount of Fireline (forgot to tell him to keep his line far from the motor ) we had a good time.

Our first drift downstream of the Hwy 59 bridge netted us a nice 20″ walleye so we thought we were on the bite. Gave up after 3 more drifts with nothing to show for it. Time to roll out the trolling gear.

Trolled from the Hwy 59 bridge up to the lake and Matthew netted a 12″ female white bass full of eggs. As we turned to go back to the bridge he netted a 20″ northern and returned it to the water. Then he netted a 15″ sauger and followed it with a fat 17″ walleye at around 8:PM and we were done for the evening.

I’ll bet this is just the first of many more fishing days when I get outfished by my son, Matthew. Sorry, forgot the camera–no pictures.
