I have been pondering as of late. I watch the Koshkonong ice fishing reports and threads closely though I dont ice fish. One thing I see a lot of is that ice fisherman tend to fish a lot at night on Kosh. I have spent a fair amount of time at night during open water fishing as well but dont seem to have the production I would like. What if any difference do you feel there is. I rarely ever see anyone else actually fish at night in open water. Of course, I like Z-man avoid a crowd like the plague too. Lets hear your 2 cents worth!

I don’t ice fish much either, but I feel night fishing on open water can be very productive on certain bodies of water. Up in Minnesota on Mille Lacs, the night bite in CRAZY in may.

My general rule of thumb is: Dirty/stained water can be fished during the day, clear water is for nighttime fishing. I fish Koshkonong during the day and Geneve/Delavan at night. B.T.W. Did you get that motor going yet?

I have met a couple of guys that fish Kosh at night for the wallys. They say it is pretty good fishing but I have done once and the bugs drove me off.

Been working on boat quite a bit, but this last snowstorm has kept me and the motor out of the water! Got ants in my pants to get it in the water though.

I do fish Kosh at night, evenings anyway. The problem I have after dark is big bullheads and carp biting on crankbaits. This past fall I started to experiment with drifting bottom bouncers on Kosh and had some luck, looking forward to trying this in the spring as well!
