I didn’t make it out either. No reports must mean someone is cleaning up! I’ve been getting ready for hunting and ice fishing and have been cooped up at home with a chest cold watching fishing shows. I hate watching those, it only makes me more anxious to be out myself. I probably missed a good opportunity to cast a few from shore after the hard rain last Saturday.
November 9, 2005 at 4:31 am #395272You bet, can’t wait. This year I’m leaving my ice fishing gear at home. Party time at PDC

I’m still here. We meeting at the pud again this year?
November 9, 2005 at 4:36 am #395277Plan on making it out Sunday. Last weekend was family time .
Sounds like EZ is making it out Saturday.
Derek I think it will have to get a little cooler yet for plastic. Just my 2 cents.
The 30th of Oct I tried plastic all afternoon with nothing to show.
The day before I caught fish on crawler and fatheads.
November 9, 2005 at 4:47 am #395281I’ll be fishing and hunting from 11/18 to 11/28, I hope the plastic bite going by then.
I got a feeling the river wouldn’t ice up until the end of Jan.
My boat might be idle for only 4 weeks this year.
Two years ago EZ and I were fishing the day after New Years. Way do I remember, because I hit my first rock that caused damage.
Dam winter draw down
A few ice chucks might been the blame also.
I can laugh now but on that day fishing really sucked after I hit that rock.
Now that I think of it, it sucked all day.
November 9, 2005 at 1:10 pm #395313Looks likes plans have changed. Plan to get out Sat around 130 if I can stay out of trouble for a couple of days. NOT Sometimes you gotta take a stand and take the hit
Maybe see you out Sat Ed.

November 9, 2005 at 4:39 pm #395398I’m still planning on it Derek, although will be getting an early start, and probably make a day of it. Still havent decided which stretch to fish though….
November 11, 2005 at 4:22 pm #396075Any body been out and get a water temp?
JP and folks near the river. You guys been getting any rain. Just trying to plan my strategy for tomorrow. Jeff you know what I mean.
November 13, 2005 at 11:32 pm #396357And here’s the shot before the release….picked Jeff up hitchhiking at the riverfront bar launch on Saturday, bout 10am. We tried one drift just off the wood across from the launch, and after a few hits, but no fish, ran upriver to some deeper holes, as Jeff only had a couple hours before he had to go home and get some beauty rest before work. Didn’t take long to connect with a couple 13 to 14 inchers, with Jeff leading-off with a boated fish, and Frank picking up a fish or two….until this piggie hit. With rod bent, and drag zippping out, this 26.999 baby came into the net with one one sure swoop by yours truly. this fish came on jig/crawler combo in 11 fow. We proceeded to pick up a couple more legals in this spot, a n 18 inch eye, and 20 inch sauger…these took a paddletail, and a rodrunner/minnow combo. Took Jeff back to launch, and picked up another sauger, bout 19.5 inches, and lost a couple legals right at the boat, plus landed about another dozen subs. These later fish came at different holes upriver from the launch….we picked up fish at all three holes we tried….but not like the piggie. So with the river being fairly empty as hunting season is upon us, there’s still some time to enjoy this near-by water and stand a good chance of landing a beauty….hoping to find out again on Monday.
November 15, 2005 at 5:19 am #396698Here’s a picture of Ed’s sauger he caught with a roadrunner and fathead.
November 15, 2005 at 6:23 pm #396823Went back on Monday hoping for more of the same, but it was better than Saturday. While we didn’t boat any piggies, the action was steady throughout the day, and it was a smorgasbord…besides this batch of nice eaters, ranging from 15.5 to 20.75 inches, we lost a few legals at the boat, plus boated about 30 or so subs, dozen white bass, one pike, two carp, and a warmouth (I think?), and countless missed hits…actually ran out of minnows. None of the holes that produced on saturday, though, yielded any fish yesterday. New pattern was 7 fow, off wood, for the eyes. anytime we ventured shallower, we picked up white bass, and there seemed to be lots of them in a couple of the areas. No bait of preference today, as I got half my fish on Jig/minnow combo and the other half on paddletail…same ole reliable catalpa orange…..The action was very good both days, and I have to wonder if fishing just ahead of the storms that moved in both days right at dark was a factor?? Guess I’m gonna have to try to hit it again without storms to see if the good bite continues in stable weather patterns. With gun opener just upon us, the water should be very quiet….maybe this weekend?
November 16, 2005 at 1:09 am #396967well, its been a long time since i have been able to post a report but that doesn’t mean i have not been fishing.
fished last week thursday and was able to scratch up some nice eyes, with about 15 shorts. i wasn’t able to really dial in a pattern on what to use but depth was important. 7-10 feet = fish, anything else seemed like a waste of time. dark blue jig was my choice but everything else worked too. nothing on plastics. will be out this thursday and depending on weather maybe this weekend as my freezer is already full of venison.November 16, 2005 at 5:33 am #397011WOW, I would have relase all of those walleyes.
Ed and Frank great job.
November 16, 2005 at 5:36 am #397012Mike welcome back, my freezer is full too but still have to bag a few more for the food pantry.
With the weather change fishing will be tough. Good Luck and keep us all up to date guys.
November 16, 2005 at 3:37 pm #397075Forgot to mention in the last report that two of the eyes had frogs in their bellies. First time I’ve seen that out here. How bout you Jeff? You got frogs in your belly? I mean you seen frogs in the eye bellies before?
November 16, 2005 at 5:21 pm #397114I would have thought they would have been starting to hibernate. My have to break out the topwater frog for some fall topwater walleye action.
Come on it could happen!!
November 16, 2005 at 6:08 pm #397138No frogs in my belly, I do have some gas
I would say them frogs were trying to dig in the mud and those eye got them
