Fort Atkinson Boat Landing Parking GONE!

    Notice:

    Did you all know that there are now 26 less boat trailer parking spots at the
    downtown Fort Atkinson boat landing? The boat landing is currently being
    reconstructed (recurbed, landscaped, etc.) and now there are only 8 trailer
    spots left. Today, you could have only parked four trailers at the landing
    because single cars took half the spots.

    The city is putting green space in places we all use to park our trailers. This
    spring you won’t find a spot to park at the downtown landing, that is for
    certain!

    I am a member of two local outdoor groups and as far as I know we were not
    consulted before the city decided to take away 26 boat trailer parking spots
    in an attempt to make the area “pretty.”

    If you feel losing boat trailer parking in Fort Atkinson is a mistake, you better
    let the city know before they finish doing the landscaping. You can reach

    If people don’t call and/or write we are guaranteed to lose all this trailer parking. Once it’s gone, we won’t ever get it back. Some of the out-of-towners need to let the city know how much money you spend while you are here (ex. bait shops, motels, gas stations, eating out, etc.)

    I emailed the chamber and this is what they had to say.

    Jeff, I have forwarded this on to the City of Fort Atkinson. The Chamber and it’s members started a Parking Task Force because of some issues our members have brought to our attention. We will bring this up at our next meeting also.

    Thanks for sharing the chamber’s response. I am glad they are forwarding the messages to the city. The city Manager does not want to give up one more parking stall to a boat trailer. It will take quite a few respondents to get him to think differently.
