OK So it’s 27 degrees and snowing right now. Nauga might want to start digging up some ice fishing tourney rules to hand out for April 27th, or we’ll all need to bring a bunch of ice picks to get the boats in the water. Come’on spring!

March 19, 2013 at 12:03 pm #1153649OK, so now that the cat’s out of the bag and it’s official, you all can see that my partner is Diesel, previously referred to as “SWD” in an earlier post…..Secret Weapon Dude. As big underdogs in this field of very tough competition, our only hope is to have a chance to prefish, on open water, that is. But with tough bosses on the home and work fronts, practice time may be hard to come by….but then, didn’t someone famous once say.”I don’t need no stinkin’ practice”? I think that might have been Boat #1.
Should be a fun event, guys!March 19, 2013 at 2:08 pm #1153703Quote:

EZ that’s awesome you and Diesel are hooking up to fish the tourney. I must have been drinking when I said I don’t need practice if you are referring to me. Internet, reading books, practicing, pre fishing and talking with anglers on the water is a big part of my sucess.
March 19, 2013 at 8:34 pm #1153857Heck, Jeff. As well as you and Wefish know that river, you guys ought to sleep in that day, and show up at noon, to make it sporty and give the rest of us a fighting chance.
March 20, 2013 at 3:05 am #1153991Fun that’s what you think welcome to smash time no chasing LOL, LOL Your alway welcome Eric.
March 20, 2013 at 11:42 am #1154035Extended forecast shows no big changes. It’s looking like an ice block well into April. At best there will be 1-2 weeks of open water, if any, before the tourney. With the tourney scheduled prior to openning day on most waters I’m expecting at least 200 boats from downtown Fort to the lake and another 50+ shore anglers. You better put rubber bumpers all around your boat it’s going to be a squeeze. At least I’m getting practice on hook sets ice fishing for gills and crappies. It hasn’t been a bad month for slabs including 16 & 17″ crappies in our privately stocked family pond.

April 10, 2013 at 2:30 pm #1161159I will keep my eye on the 59 bridge. If it doesn’t look like we will be able to get boats underneath it on the weekend of the tournament I will either change the launch location or postpone the tournament to a later date. If I have to postpone to a later date and you can’t make it on that date you will have your entry fee returned to you. Most likely I would change the launch location. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to this. I hope we can get nunder it for league next week
April 11, 2013 at 12:04 pm #1161541My partner and I pulled into the Anchor this morning on our way home for work. We are A Ok!!!! Even if the river went up another 18″-24″ all boats whould still be able to get under the 59 bridge. I’m guessing there’s probably 6.5 feet or better of space between the water and bridge!!! WhoHHooooHooo!!!
