As I’ve posted before, and am sure a few of you have found the same thing, about half of the November walleye I’ve kept and cleaned, had frogs in their bellies. Not sure when the frogs start leaving land to burrow into the muddy bottom of the river, but I’d say that the cycle of eyes looking for meals like that, would be repetetive year to year. Come on frogs!
November 2, 2012 at 10:42 am #1109156Thanks for the tip Ed,
This fin-tech team will be heading out today on the Rock River and another fin-tech team is going to the Miss on pool 4 which is the Mike and Carson Huppert. Good luck to the Huppert’s. The Rock River should be ready to pop, the walleyes should be putting on the feed bag, I’m very excited to get out fishing this morning, can’t sleep. Heading out at 10am to 6pm, will report in a couple weeks.
November 5, 2012 at 8:43 pm #1109817Out today from 630 to 1. Fished blackhawk by myself with noting to show for it. Trolled the lake for 2 hours – ZIP. BTW just past the mouth it is 2 feet deep for about 1/4 mile. A little scary.
Back up the river to the VFW and got some rips on plastic but were white bass. Put on minnows and consistent white bass action up to 14 inches. Got one walleye at 15.5 inches on jig and minnow. Only two other boaters out and one duck hunter heading to Kosh.
Water very very low and the dock at the bypass has been pulled out.
Water temp 40.That is it.

November 5, 2012 at 9:23 pm #1109833At least the nice size white bass were there to tug on your lines….plus one eye. Can’t be too picky this late in the game.
November 11, 2012 at 10:22 am #1111286Wefish and I fished hard Saturday for 8 hours to take home four nice keepers for the frying pan. Fish were caught in 9 to 11 fow on some plastic and a few on big fathead minnow. It was good to see Ed and Bob out fishing hard also. Looks like rain all day today(Sunday)so wouldn’t get out until next Friday. Wefish did ok running the trolling motor all day, man it’s nice fishing from the back of the boat, very relaxing. water temps 45 and water very low and still going down, be careful, walleye fishing is picking up since last week, need the rain, rain will help the bite. I have been picking up shorts also, blade baits have been starting to work good to. Time to grab some blade baits, 2-tone color nuckle ball jigs 1/8 and 1/4 oz, plastic’s (Berkley ribworms, pattletails, ringworms) and a few nice big fatheads for back up and get on the water. Hope to cya you all on the water next week, good luck to all the deer hunters.

November 18, 2012 at 2:58 pm #1113138Out Friday from 2-5 pm. White bass if you want to target them. One short sauger on the split shot dead stick. Talked to a few guys. Only heard of one walleye caught by some guys who were out all day.
Going to try somewhere else for a bit. Don’t know where yet but tired of catching white bass.
Hear some shots in the background and had three does watching me fish.
Also saw a couple owls flying in which is always cool.
At least there is always the beauty of nature to enjoy.

November 19, 2012 at 3:46 am #1113230Took my long time fishing partner, John, out today from 9:30am to 4:pm. Lots of white bass, a couple of short saugers and just as we ran out of bait, this nice 20″ walleye caught in the shallows on a livebait rig.
November 20, 2012 at 12:01 am #1113420Out on the Rock for about 3 hrs. this afternoon, after striking out on Monona lake chasing muskies in the morning. two short saugers, and a bunch of white bass, and that was it. Unless somebody starts posting some good reports, may be throwing in the towel on the Rock for this year, and spend the last few open water days on the Big pond, or some other waters.
Very difficult to understand, after a banner year for eyes last fall.November 20, 2012 at 12:24 pm #1113524I tend to agree with throwing in the towel. The cold temps coming may help but thinking about putting the rig away soon.
Later all.

November 25, 2012 at 1:25 pm #1114675Yeah I know what you me, the k-mart lunch dinged up my lower unit, nothing seroius but a few sratches but never the less it sucked out there with low water and the fishing.
November 26, 2012 at 10:32 pm #1115085Seeing skim ice on the ponds at my home and that other site showing ice on Kosh. The clock is ticking for you die hards
November 27, 2012 at 1:58 pm #1115258Ron was out on the Rock on sunday afternoon, and pounded the white bass after giving up on walleye. As for me, not sure where I’ll spend the last day or two of open water fishing. Probably the Big Pond.
November 27, 2012 at 9:14 pm #1115451Just came back from madison for work. The rock and crawfish off I-94 is iced up. I would imagine the rest of the river is starting to do the same.
Derek
November 28, 2012 at 4:51 pm #1115678I would say ice will be off most of the river by Sunday
