Out on Lake wis. the last 3 days and getting some nice saugers. Here is a pic of one of my cliente Glenn.
October 5, 2012 at 3:39 pm #1103193I know that spot! Nice sauger, and good to see the fall bite moving into full swing. Hope to have some pics from a weekend outing on the Rock.
October 7, 2012 at 12:01 am #1103398Wow…no reports for the Rock today? Was going to head out this morning, but decided to finish a timber retaining wall replacement instead, that I started last week. But, heading out in the early morning tomorrow..was hoping for GPS coordinates, depths, baits, etc….Gonna have to fend for myself, I guess.
Have the Yarcraft back, and after fishing tomorrow for a few hours in the morning, gonna take it on Kosh and boat around for two hours for the break-in routine. Gimme a wave if you see me tooling around.October 7, 2012 at 2:44 am #1103422Ed watch your depth going on to the lake for the first 1/4 mile or so out of the mouth. Last week my depth finder had two feet in the usual shallow spots coming from the river to the lake. (I stopped to check the depth). Got back on plane and ran to my trolling milk run. Ran back from the rock pile area back through the mouth on plan with out a problem. With the low water I would be careful around the usual places, rock pile, junk pile etc. Once out in the lake I marked 4-6 feet but you have to know where to find that depth
brad2413Posts: 2October 7, 2012 at 8:05 pm #1103480Fished just north of 26th this am. Managed a fat 23 incher along with a slew of whitebass. My wife wanted a fish dinner, so I took the fish home. I had 3 relatively large digested fish in it – so maybe they are stuffed this fall? Quite a few boats out. Didn’t see any other walleye caught, but heard that a few others were caught. Plenty of white bass to keep you busy.

October 9, 2012 at 8:20 pm #1104074Out on sunday from 6:15 am to 2 pm, and decent action in the morning. Got three eyes, a 22, 17, and 14, plus slew of white bass and a crappie. No walleye after 10 am. Hopefully back at it this weekend. water temps at 52 degrees.
October 12, 2012 at 3:32 pm #1104782Trusted first hand report of a shore fisherman with consecutive days of four and five kept walleyes. If a shore fisherman can do that and you can’t catch one now you suck as a fishing person!
October 13, 2012 at 1:20 am #1104956Ouch, Greg. You sure know how to hurt a guy.
Spent all day targetting the elusive eye at Blackhawk from VFW and down to mouth….and sorry to say….not a single walleye. tried it all, but no dice. Even the white bass were playing hard to get, compared to last week. But nevertheless, a great day on the water with a good friend. a little humble pie now and then is good for you.October 15, 2012 at 11:19 am #1105203Too bad I wasn’t the one that caught the fish. I’m with you, I suck too. My late start this year killed me. Maybe I’ll try pheasants next weekend, bought a new Franchi over/under.
October 20, 2012 at 10:56 am #1106436Two catfish and a few crappies, zippo Friday on walleyes not even a tug, hit or what hell they do, don’t remember anymore , will try again today, of course a different area for sure. Ed how did you do? Sorry I missed your call last last night, after fishing the afternoon with Wefish I went to bed early real early
October 21, 2012 at 12:56 pm #1106547Saturday report – no walleyes in the river again did catch some big white bass, so we targeted crappies and bluegills on the lake. Got some nice crappies ranging 9 to 12 inches and the gills ranged from 7 to 8 inched, nothing huge but very fun to catch on UL rods and bobbers. Today we will target pan fish first then end the day fishing for walleyes in the river in the wood using plastic. Water temps 51 to 53.
Anytime now, you can feel it coming, we did talk to a few anglers at first going out and they all said slow, coming back from the lake they all seem to have one or two walleyes. Fish all day for one ore two walleyes isn’t my cup of tea.
October 22, 2012 at 11:20 am #1106638Sunday report, very tough for me, the wind made it tough to fish pan but i still caught a few. Started hunting walleyes a little earlier Sunday afternoon so we could hit a few more spots. One thing we did notice going out to the lake there were at least 20 boats out fishing and 99% that we talked to didn’t catch fish, it was so funny when we went past blackhawk were most boats were 14 boats at least around 10:30 and when we came back at 1:30 zippo boats, well that says only four things, they all got a limit, fish has lock jaw, went to watch packer game or moved to a different spot. My vote is they have lock jaw. So – walleye report, just like everyone else but Denny, zippo, will try next weekend again, good luck to all usless your Denny4j which thank god you don’t live close by Denny4j if you really got 4 or a limit fishing by the crowd you must be a very lucky basta#@. We been fishing very hard for the last four weeks without a walleye and you come up from Ill and get a limit in a few hours that just isn’t right
I remember the days I helped you with jigs, techqunie, bait, depth and area to put fish in your boat maybe you could PM me the favor back.
All and all it was great to be out this weekend with some great weather – thank you lord.
October 22, 2012 at 1:45 pm #1106669Late Friday report. Spent 12 hours on the water, from sun-up to sun-down, joined by 2 very die-hard fishermen who won a trip I donated to a silent auction for a high school fund raiser. i warned them a couple days earlier that it might be slow and offered to reschedule, , but they insisted on giving the Rock a try as it was new water for them. We hit it hard all day, doing the milk-run spots twice thru the day, from the mouth to the VFW,and only two eyes, 15 and 16 inches, several crappie, and a couple dozen or so white bass. water temp at 52 in most places.
hopefully, the eyes will turn on soon. Gotta keep plugging away at them, I guess.
Congrats to steady Denny guess we’re going to have to tie onto his boat and follow him around to get the secret.October 23, 2012 at 9:59 pm #1106972hahahahaha hi Jeff, i did get three walleyes sunday, but they were all shorties. Plus i got a couple of crappies and snagged a huge carp in the tail. hahahaha it was still a great day to be on the water. The water temp needs to drop for the keepers to come out to play see you on the water my friends
October 23, 2012 at 10:38 pm #1106977Denny that makes more since no keepers, plus when I saw you were leaving the river before 2pm and you didn’t post any pictures I new something was fishy now I’m not so confused. When Wefish said you holded up four fingers I new something wasn’t correct. I agree this rain and cooler water temps in the 40’s will make them pop.
October 25, 2012 at 2:26 am #1107364Second hand report from today. One or two guys caught a few walleye in the holes in the mornings maybe one per boat. Not many white bass or crappies reported caught. A couple trollers on the lake but no report on if they caught any.
That is all I got for info.
Derek
October 27, 2012 at 11:13 pm #1107966Thanks for the report Derek, Saturday Wefish and myself had a big zippo again for walleyes, we fished from 11:30 to 5:30 from VFW to the mouth with only a couple big rough fish and white bass. Five weeks in a row without a keeper walleye. I will not not give up yet, sorry but Oct was a sucky mouth for walleyes so it has to be Nov or the summer heat did damage to the rock. I will hit it hard again Sunday then next Fri , Sat and Sun and if no walleyes it’s time to bow hunt for deer that is very slim also. What other hobbie can I do, oh yeah there’s always crappie and bluegill.
Just kidding gang, I was shocked to see water temps still at 53 and the water was down a foot since last week, warm rain and open dam must have cause the temps to stay around 53, when temps get around the 45 mark and lower look out, but we will have to deal with winter draw down means low water
October 30, 2012 at 12:29 am #1108274I was out a couple of times this week and put a legal in the boat both times along with the first crappies I’ve caught out of the system. Was fishing the piers at Charlie Bluff and caught my first largemouth bass Sunday. This has been a tough bite this fall and I believe that is because the summer drove water temps up so high and we just haven’t had the cool weather to bring them down. Even the geese are heading south later this year. November is the new October.
