With temp’s in the high 90’s and water temps over 85 all ready it should be an intresting July.

No depths to go down to–lake is now 5′ maximum depth.

Found BOLA at the stinkpipe trying to stay cool in the shade while I tried to entice the walleyes at the VFW hole-no go. Then I followed my own advice and speed trolled in the lake at 3-5 mph. Slow rolling baits in any color with blue backs seemed to be the ticket. One other guy was having luck with clown shadbaits at 2 mph.

Three fish in 3 hours–2 hours of trolling, 18, 19, and 24″. All released.

(I’ve gotta get better at picture taking. And fish posing.)

Far and few between but if you spend your time on the river you can catch nice walleyes like the one in this picture. This walleye was released to catch another day.
