April should be an awesome month, hope to see some of you IDOer’s on the water.
Don’t forget your 2011 licenses are expired… Make sure you’ve got your 2012 one.
You guys know it is still March for a few more hours. Good reminder on the license though!
i should have a good fishing report up on monday or the beginning of the week…just need some more pictures and supporting evidence!
Caught a little opening in the schedule yesterday, so decided to hit the Rock despite the NE winds, which ended up being pretty brutal at Newville. But, as they say, a bad day of fishing is etc, etc. Anyway, after seeing the tough conditions as I launched at 1 pm, decided to give pulling flies in tandem a try. Never did it before, but ended up being a good way to troll in the wind, up and down current. Got 1 white bass and 25 inch pike, and started dragging and picthing and jigging plastic and jig/crawler after a couple hours of pulling. The rest of my catch is in the pic. Found a new-to-me clam bed. Called it quits at 6.
Went out Sat. 4-7-12 at 3:pm until 8:pm and did a little jigging, dragging, casting and trolling and managed 1 ‘eye down by Blackhawk island. A 23″ fish is nice, but I prefer numbers over size–freezer is getting empty.
Thursday Anchor tourney starting next week. Break in the weather party is the 21st. Think the launch will be open Thursday?
Out Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 to 6:30. Bite was tough but managed two–one released at the side of the boat and the other released to the grease. Mayge I’ll get to fish the tourney. I just need a partner–any takers?

Bob if you can’t find a partner still come it’s ok to fish it solo.

Sounds to me like someone’s on fish, and not spilling? It’s either the “more, the merrier” or the more, the bigger the pot, or both. Anyway, it is a great time and I’d be there if I could.
Z,
My money is with “the bigger the pot”. If partners had to split the catch–maybe they do?–I might have a chance to place. Still. . .two heads are better than one and four to six rods can cover more presentations or water. Looks as though I might have a partner for a few nights.
Did Newville today 8-12. 3 norts. Didn’t see anybody getting any action. Water was just south of 49 ended up a bit over 50. Any blackhawk action yet?
There was a bunch of us jigging the Blackhawk Island area at the mouth. Mostly shorts caught according to the guys I talked to. That was my experience, too. Did bring one home for the fat–a 19″ ‘eye caught on a plain hook and deadstick rod.
Hi everyone, Glad to see all you guys yesterday on the water. I did catch a few shorties and a couple of nice keepers. Good Fishing to all……..Denny
Thanks for the update Bob. Will probably take my first trip across the lake this year on Thursday.
Good to see you on the water yesterday, Denny, and watch you catch one of them eyes as we were chatting . I ended up with the big skunk, but what a great day to be out!
Fished from shore in Ft Atkinson today. Dead sticked fatheads on floaters and gold hooks. Decided to try casting. Got 5 whitebass, all around 9 inches which I threw back and a 16 1/2″ walleye which i will be dining on Friday. Was using a green, chartreuse and white 3/8 oz jighead with a chartreuse power grub.
Got on the water at about noon today. Took a few more home for the skillet. It was another good day on the water
