Let me know when you’re going. I’ll email you some instructions on how to fillet goats, and stay home and work in the yard that day.
Well Ed called it. Got out today for the FIRST time this year on the rock. Yeah pretty sad.
Launched at Blackhawk for the milk run at 730. Nada. couple of white bass. Pulled out at 1000 to launch at the dwntwn Fort. Say a couple of VERY NICE stringers of walleyes on the wall from the shore guys. I was thinking cool here we go. First drift down past the old RR tracks had a nice hit. Little did I know there were white bass.
Got to a honey spot I was shown many years ago and pulled a 17 inch smallie. Never caught one that big on the rock. Though it was a nice eye until it cleared the water.
Drifted, vertical jigged, zipped, cast cranks, cast jigs from the bark to the end of the wall. No eyes. One carp, two goats and white bass which are everywhere. (thanks for the jinx Ed – see above). I caught sheephead and you stayed at home
Saw a couple more caught before I pulled out at 300.
Tough fishing but nice being out on the rock.
Also if you launch at downtown be careful there are some rock since the water is low. Raise your engine when coming in.
Water temp 51.
