Fished yesterday with no fish, trying again today. Look out for the duck hunters, pellets are flying, kind of scary out there hearing the pellets hit the leaves and water . Saw a little buck swiming across the river by the by-pass bridge by the boat launch.

Nice job, netmann. That’s the way to get the rest of us fired up,
October 9, 2011 at 3:37 am #979159anybody here? got a couple northerns and whitebass trolling tonight. water temp shot up to 66
October 9, 2011 at 4:40 am #979158Were you in the river or lake? I was out last Wed and Thursday… One day out of Kmart and the other out of the bypass launch, slooow is the only way to describe it. The water was back up above 60* and very little current. Tried verticle jigging some, had the LX-5 over the bow, marked a trmendous amount of fish but only sniffers…. Also was kinda surprised at the amount of boats trying to fish the last 100 yards of river…. almost looked like April. Seen very few fish caught, the couple I did see looked like sheepies from a distance. The only luck I had was to fish tree tops for crappies, and those weren’t an easy catch either. Way into the wood and if you bumped the tree at all with the boat might as well just move on. Depending on the wind may try to get out this coming week but prolly give it a while to let water temps drop some…
If you guys see the ProDrive with the black lab stop and say hiOctober 9, 2011 at 10:23 am #1000165trust me, netman didn’t catch those fish by Fort or Blackhawk, so you guys don’t have to get all excited and buy bait, I would say them fish look like below the dam at Indianford or centerway.
ProDrive is correct fishing is slow, I’m surprise at all the boats out myself, I would say anglers diary’s are off this year Water temp jump back up to high 60’s so look like a November bite this year write that in your diary anglers
October 9, 2011 at 2:16 pm #1000189It’s a good thing I took up hunting again. Heading to SD next weekend for pheasants, then I’m coming back in time for carpal tunnel surgery from catching so many fish in walleye league – tough problem to have this time of year but I’d do it again. Maybe in November!
October 10, 2011 at 10:17 am #1000309Good luck with the birds and the surgery. Got out for the first time in a long time yesterday. One smallmouth on jigs and a short sauger on cranks. was going to try blackhawk, but was kind of shallow so backed off.
October 18, 2011 at 1:37 am #1002138pretty quite in here
heres a few from tonight been doing extremely well caught over 50 walleyes/saugers the past few days with the biggest around 22″ and 5 lbs and all from SHORE.
October 18, 2011 at 12:27 pm #1002206Nice going, guys. Hoping to start getting on the river next week….no chatter on this thread often means the fish are starting to bite. It’s that time of year.
October 18, 2011 at 11:06 pm #1002420Plane on 1 or 2 fish days z-man – looking forward to your reports.
October 18, 2011 at 11:23 pm #1002425That doesn’t sound like the falls of the past….maybe the good cool-down will get things moving. will see.
October 19, 2011 at 12:46 am #1002442Don’t worry, I plan to make an appearance soon. That is sure to give them lockjaw.
October 19, 2011 at 10:52 pm #1002722Let me know when you’re going. I’ll email you some instructions on how to fillet goats, and stay home and work in the yard that day.
October 21, 2011 at 7:02 pm #1003217Chirp, chirp – I mean cacaw cacaw! Had a blast. Got educated the first day but were on the birds within an hour the second day. Ended up with half our limit for the two days. Birds were down 40% this year due to the spring flooding.
October 23, 2011 at 9:00 pm #1003485Second hand report.
My other fishing buddy Larry, was out yesterday launching from the bypass. Reported many fishermen out upriver of the bypass and down to blackhawk at the usually holes. Water temp about 53. Did not see many caught but talked to some guys who were there in the AM and caught and saw some nice fish caught.
He trolled the lake for a northern (just learning how to drag boards). No eyes. Light to no wind and glass water on the lake (not best for trolling) Be careful heading out from the mouth at blackhawk as he hit something but no damage.
He may be out tomorrow. If I hear something I will post.

October 24, 2011 at 1:11 am #1003556You must have been that guy that everyone was talking about.
Why am I not surprised.
October 24, 2011 at 2:56 pm #1003657Hmmmm, that spot looks familiar.
Nice fish. What did the biggest measure out at, Jeff?
Heard thru the grapevine that WeFish has a new name…..Netboy, since Netman is already taken.October 25, 2011 at 11:27 pm #1004076Made it out to the river this afternoon, and what a change from Sunday. Spots that produced well on sunday yielded only white bass today. Got one legal and 7 shorts, plus a bazillion white bass, two goats and the obligatory carp. Managed to dodge the rain cells that moved thru, so that was good.

Well Ed called it. Got out today for the FIRST time this year on the rock. Yeah pretty sad.
Launched at Blackhawk for the milk run at 730. Nada. couple of white bass. Pulled out at 1000 to launch at the dwntwn Fort. Say a couple of VERY NICE stringers of walleyes on the wall from the shore guys. I was thinking cool here we go. First drift down past the old RR tracks had a nice hit. Little did I know there were white bass.
Got to a honey spot I was shown many years ago and pulled a 17 inch smallie. Never caught one that big on the rock. Though it was a nice eye until it cleared the water.
Drifted, vertical jigged, zipped, cast cranks, cast jigs from the bark to the end of the wall. No eyes. One carp, two goats and white bass which are everywhere. (thanks for the jinx Ed – see above). I caught sheephead and you stayed at home
Saw a couple more caught before I pulled out at 300.
Tough fishing but nice being out on the rock.
Also if you launch at downtown be careful there are some rock since the water is low. Raise your engine when coming in.
Water temp 51.

October 29, 2011 at 1:14 am #1005030Here’s Ed with some nice eater walleyes we caught today. Water temp was 49 degrees and those paddle tails do catch fish. We had a small catching window and managed to put four eaters in the boat. Then the bite shut right down but the white bass kept us entertained along with Eds bag of snacks, boy that salmon spread was good. Nice having you along Ed.

October 29, 2011 at 11:02 pm #1005108fished today for a while and well it was pretty slow anyways i ended up with 2 16 inch saugers on minnows and a fat 21 inch walleye on a ringworm and about 20 whitebass which are everywhere.
October 30, 2011 at 12:16 am #1005116Netmann nice fish, WeFish and I happen to get into a nice school of eyes after you left us. Great to see you out fishing. Most of are fish came on plastic also but we did get some nice fish on fathead minnows.
October 30, 2011 at 1:18 am #1005133Nice going guys. Jeff, I drove past you on 26 as you were heading to launch would have honked but realized it was you too late. I was out in the early AM to about 1000. Picked up a 15.5 Sauger on Ed’s favorite paddle tail.
Water temp 46.

October 30, 2011 at 8:37 am #1005158Yes I noticed you, I told WeFish there’s goes Diesel. Must have been a cold morning. I have always done better in the afternoon in the fall. I like to sleep in and have a big breakfast to make it through day.
