Happy 4th of July IDO – Safety First

I would assume the weather will be sticky and hot this month so the morning fishing will be best. Good luck to all anglers an watch out for the bugs.

Hey guys, happy 4th. Heard there are some exposed rocks out by the shoal bar, anybody seen that?

Haven’t seen no rocks, was out all 4th of July weekend. few big stumps sticking out that anglers might be mistaking. There is one big log sticking out just NW from bar so be careful. Fishing has been good for me also but will need the perfect wind for Thursday if I want to catch walleyes like these in the pictures. Don’t let the back ground fool you, all fish were CPR but two for lunch.

Trolling was good on Tuesday despite the wind and waves. 15 Walleyes caught in three hours ranging from 14″ to 21″ most of them in the 19-20″ range. Other species caught: whities, sheeps, northerns.

Enjoyed the several mentions of the rock river in the golf tournament this weekend. Our guy from upriver in Edgerton pulled it off for a three peat! Way to go Steve. I would like to pay homage to Jeff and Greg as well so thus the icon . HA nice job guys, see you Thursday

I don’t know about being on fire but it is hot on the water these days. How are all of you guys holding out with the heat? Looks like some rain for a couple days should help the lawn. Any body catching fish or just staying in the house with the air on?

Well, sad to say, got the priorities goofed up for a few weeks, with work and all, but got the head straightened out again. Hoping to get in some time on the water for the rest of the summer..will see. Did take the kids out tubing and kneeboarding on Nagawicka Lake on Wednesday for 3 hours in the afternoon, and after dropping them off at the launch for the FW to pick up, went back out for a couple hours to try panfishing this lake for the first time. Drinking plenty of water in the 97 degree heat, immediately came across some gills in 14 to 18 fow, which I had marked while setting up the tube. Kept 10 in 7.25 to 8.5 range and released a dozen or so at a6 inches plus. Also got 4 smallies that couldn’t resist the redworms, 14 to 17.5 inches, plus one break-off. Fun stuff on 9 ft. rods with 4lb. test mono. Jumped over for a cool down, too. Not a bad way to spend a scorching afternoon.

Was it easy to get back into the boat after cool down? It’s not easy for me without the ladder. In a pinch I would us the motor and title me up then crawl on board, not a very good site. LOL

I can picture it now…..I Know what you mean. Lucky for me and those around me, I had the ladder in the boat. Even with the ladder, my kids quietly commented that Dad is getting old….but my hears work just fine, so i heard that.
