    Hey guys,

Does anyone know of any ice conditions in the Rochester/Waseca area? Unfortunately, I can’t check cause I’m usually done with work late.

    Thank you!

I heard 2-3 inches around the Rochester area over the weekend. Nothing personally checked however.

2-3″ up to about 100 yards from shore on Cannon Lake on Friday. A little north of there, but it’s close to Waseca.

We’ve been out and about the last couple days but haven’t seen anyone on ice. I’m sure there are some that will push it. How much do you weigh? If you’re 140 pounds you might be ok with a pail and hand auger on a couple of the puddles around Roch. If you’re a puss and have to have a shack, a heater and tank and gas auger, maybe give it a while yet. I’d avoid Foster, the back of Chesterwoods and a couple of the Country Club ponds until we get better cold. The Scout camp and Willow are probably ok unless you’re at 240 like I am.

Ha I weight about 230 and I have a power auger. I usually don’t fish with a shack unless I’m bringing a family member or friend. I’ve never ice fished Chester, I’m sure it’s a hot bite. They have pig panfish there. There was a Facebook post that there was 4 inches of solid ice at Silver Creek Reservoir.

If anyone wants, we can always meet up around Rochester area. Otherwise there’s a lake I love to fish near Owatonna.

    Tight lines guys!

Cody at Breakwall Outfitters is out checking ice right now. I’ll update when he posts.

I am at Silver Creek Reservoir right now and the ice is 5″, which also happens to be the average fish size.

Most of the bigger fish left in buckets when they put the parking lot in. How far out is the ice good?

I only made it out about 150 yards. There was another guy out quite a bit further. I tried 3 spots and all were between 5 and 6 inches.
