Just thought I would alert you to a shortage in the minnow supply. Many of the lakes which provide our minnows are experiencing oxygen depletion (also known as winter kill) which will last until the ice is gone. One example I heard is of a lake that usually produces 500 gallons of minnows in a trapping, and is now producing less than 10 gallons.
We were able to get minnows today with the exception of shiners, but my bait supplier is not overly optimistic about the next few weeks.
It is very possible that this shortage will affect a very wide area, but we will work with our suppliers to make every effort to have minnows available.
Good Fishing,
Mike
