Some trout action last weekend

With some help and advice from local Roch fisherman I was able to provide my holiday guests with some quality ice fishing. The weather wasn’t bad as we could hide in the fish house. However moving locations and packing up were quite cold.

We marked and saw a lot of fish but they were rather tight lipped. I threw a lot of different baits at them and gold spoons seemed to be what the few hungry fish wanted.

Here are a couple fish from the weekend.

OUCH! Here I was holding off on posting the pictures of the Timberwolf fry\Owl feed we had last week up in Ely. Might as well have at it now…

The trout pond in Rochester is open year ’round.

Kevin, That’s what I thought right up until 2 days before I fished it. I guess Rochester isn’t so bad after all. You are correct though. The rest of the state, Lake Trout doesn’t open until Jan 15th. In fact, I’ll be up on the Canadian Border chasing those Lakers bright and early on the 15th.

Like RugbyGuy said. Trout on this body of water is open year round.

Special regs apply at Foster and at the Pottery Pond in Red Wing. Same regs, same fish.

Don’t you still need a Trout stamp to keep Trout from F/A ?

You need the stamp or endorsement to keep trout. You do not need the stamp or endorsement to fish and release. You CANNOT, without the stamp, catch trout and give them to someone with a stamp.
