Culprit plastic for craps…

Culprit, a company well known in the bass ranks, has entered into the crappie market with several new plastics and they are sweet! I have before me a few of the slider-style paddle-tailed grubs and certainly like what I see. They are soft and supple with lots of inherent action, but what strikes me the greatest is the profile. These grubs measure an inch and a half in length with the bodies being about the same diameter as a 1″ twister body. Being somewhere in profile between a 1″ twister and a 1 1/2″-2″ tube or twister will certainly fit these cataogory all their own. The bodies are solid. Colors are interesting and they are offered in a color that I had to make from two different colored lures…something that tended to be time consuming and expensive. In addition to these grubs, there are two different twister-type baits offered, again in some very different color combinations. You can see these baits by going to the website: culprit.com . I am anxious to try them.

    Hey Tom,

Thanks for the tip on the Culprit plastics.
For those of you that may not know Tom, he is one of the best plastics fisherman I know. He can catch crappies in open water with the best of ’em!
We’ll be looking forward to your reports on these new plastics!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

Well with the warm temps and rain Tom should be able to get on Lake Zumbro sooner this year and have a longer open water season too. All that adds up to alot of reports Tom [hint hint] lol.

    Thanks, Bill

ps. I’m looking forward to trying the ringworms on the Zumbro for Smallies. I wonder how they would do for crappies if they were shorten up some, hmmm.

Ya I know Tom, stick with the twisters, tube jigs and maybe a minnow on a hook. But a guys gotta think and try give them something they haven’t quite seen yet too. lol.

    Thanks, Bill

ps. Great, this is the earliest I heard of the ice melting that far so soon. It still has a long ways to go but its a good sign. Gee, maybe think spring fever is creeping in?

pss. Tom and Mike, what is your educated guess as to when the ice will go completely out on Lake Zumbro this year?

Come on guys, be brave. I can remember fishing and catching crappies in open water in early April many times years ago. Any guess?
    Thanks, Bill

Tom’s the expert on Lake Zumbro, so I will defer to his judgement. I know the backwaters are still froze hard and will probably not be open for at least a couple weeks. When things do open up, look out – it produces some of the best fishing to be had all year!

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

You guys wouldn’t be trying to tease me would you? lol. Ice melting, best of the year fishing, warmer temps, is spring here yet?
Suppose we could all hire Jake to take us out fishing since he has such a ”hot” success record this year.
    Thanks, Bill

Sure Tom, rub it in when you know the forcast is for rain and snow now that you are off the water. Between you and Mike, I don’t know who is luckier. You both seem to be good at sneaking off to go fishing while the rest of us have to work. Think maybe Mike Fischer and I need to put a plan together so we can go fishing while you guys work. Now that idea I like.
    Thanks, Bill

    Hey Bill,

You must be hard-up to go – I mean – wow – wanting to go fishing with Mr. Fischer! Of course, Mr. Fischer is about to embark on his first of 8 vacations this spring and summer…

    Good Fishing,
    Mike

And hes not taking me???? And here I thought he was my friend. lol. See, sometimes it just doesn’t pay to think! 8 vacations? Gee you would think he owned the place or something. Thats the problem with hired help-they like to be hired but they don’t like to be there to help!

    Thanks, Bill

What can I say? For ”once” I feel speechless. I’d like to see 50s at night and 70 during the day. Then I can fish without warm clothes on, no ice and boat and or open water only. I’m ready for weather much better than todays thats for sure. Feels like just a dream today but it will warm up soon as nothing last too long in March and come Monday the 15th the month will be half over with. Thanks, Bill

I fished my 3rd tournament with him and we took 5th years ago. Had alot of fun. That was back in the days when he ran a Fisher tiller boat. Wonder why he picked that brand name boat?
    Thanks, Bill

Nope, 6 boats. lol. There was a decent turn out for it but can’t remember how many. That was back in the days when the Field brothers, Glenn Marshall , Danny Williams, etc. guys fished them so it goes back a ways.
    Thanks, Bill

    Hey Tom,

Those samples of the Culprit plastics sure look good! I’ll be trying some of them real soon.

    Thanks,
    Mike
