fished it today! walked out from grandpa eds! made it across to the other side! ice is still thin in areas! I found 3″ to 6″ I would still use a spud bar and check as you go!

as far as the fishing! it was slow! fished a couple spots that were hot for me last year! not so good today! but there were plenty of fish on the locator!

good luck and check the ice as you go!

Just wanted to remind everyone that this is a RIVER!!! be very careful! many of the better fishing spots are on the current sides of the lake! this is where the ice will be thinner!

neck down areas will be thinner! off the ends of points! above humps that push water up! will be thinner!
use your spud bar and you should be fine!

    good luck!

Thanks for report. Tucker wanted to go out with a friend fishing out their today. I was a little worried just letting go without checking things out. I am going to have him wait a little.

I saw DT in his yard today on my way to Lake City to bring my boat home from storage so I’m going to guess that if Dan isn’t on the ice today then its questionable as to how safe it is.

Lake Pepin is open in the middle down to the south part of Lake City from what I could see. Felt nice to see some open water again BUT its high and I was told that they figure they will probably have to move the trailers on the trailer point off soon. The cold snap we have been having has slowed down the melt of snow up north so that is helping some.

Chris, sweet little girl you have there. Enjoy her bud, they grow up so fast.

    Thanks, Bill

Little Nate [grandson] and I drove out to Ponderosa, Fishermans Inn and Sandy Point to check things out and theres ALOT of open water. My guess is it will be open by or before next weekend.

    COME ON OPEN WATER
[ Bet you didn’t know an old man could jump up and down did ya…lol ]

    Thanks, Bill
